Leeds This Easter!

1st Mar 2010

This Easter in Leeds brings a few little treats, the biggest of which comes on Friday when Steve Angello hosts his labels’ Size Matters party at Mission. He’s not alone though, with support from rising star Kim Fai and Manchester boys Heavy Feet hosting the second room, there’s going to be a real party vibe at Mission this Good Friday. Tickets for this one are already selling super fast, so get them asap!

Alternately, you could go for Fingerprint at The Underground with young house don; Burnski. The man is a true vinyl advocate among a profession where an increasing number of dj’s are making the switch. Having played around the world, this date lands shortly before his tour of Australia. Expect a seamless blend of house, techno and electro, check out his music; you’ll know you made the right call (MYSPACE link? http://www.myspace.com/planetburnski)

If you fancy something that’s not club orientated, why not head down to Leeds Parish Church for their annual Good Friday concert featuring the excellent St. Peters Singers and Orchestra as they perform Haydn’s Stabat Mater and Maria Theresa Mass. It’s not quite blazing electro, but if this suits you, somehow we don’t think you’ll mind.

Who said trance was dead? Saturday’s big event see’s Aurora bringing Bart Claessen and Dan Stone to Mission. We’re not talking Now That’s What I Call Music 42 kind of Trance either. Expect to be taken on a musical journey of uplifting and euphoric trance, the kind of experience where nothing else matters at the point. Sounds kind of epic right?

Sunday, my oh my. If you love rock and you love it heavy, like really heavy; then you should be excited for Sunday. Slayer are in town. We don’t even have to sell this event, it really will be that super ultimate. Tickets for this event are moving extremely fast from all outlets, make sure you get yours soon to avoid disappointment.

Now, places to stay and stuff. Unless you’re part of that small band of extremists who go from the club to the train station; you’re going to need somewhere to stay. So, on Friday, we recommend Park Plaza; rooms are currently available at an excellent rate for this 4* for the pure basics, with the option to make a worthy upgrade for not whole lot more. Alternately, if your budget is a little higher, you could opt for the Radisson.

If any of you plan on being in the Leeds for more than one night, Express by Holiday Inn are currently running rooms at only £25 per night when you stay for three nights, based on 2 adults and 2 children. So this could be an excellent bargain for those lucky people who pick it up early!

Saturday’s hotel picks are The Met; having recently undergoing a £6 million refurbishment, it could be ideal for you. You could also opt for The Marriott; with an excellent customer rating and breakfast included, it sounds kind of nice doesn’t it?

Sunday, there are a wide range of options that are currently priced very cheaply, so have a look and see what’s right for you.
