As the Capital of Culture 2008, there are plenty of things to see and do in Liverpool. A vibrant, exciting and progressive city proud of its past with many historical tales to tell, from the tall ships sailing in to the famous Beatles Story. The City also has many outstanding public parks and impressive buildings including museums and art galleries, which are free to enter, all reflecting the citys rich heritage. Thornton Hall Hotel
Thornton Hall Hotel, now an elegant 4 star country hotel, was once the home of a wealthy Shipping Merchant, the building is believed to be approximately 130 years old. The Hall became a hotel in 1954 and retains many of the origional features including Wood Carvings and an ornate Leather and Mother of Pearl ceiling in the Restaurant. The hotel is set in seven acres of grounds with the Superior Garden Rooms boasting panoramic views of the grounds and surrounding countryside.
