With just over a week to go until the Wickerman Festival kicks off, Alan Pownall, Little Comets and I Am Arrows have been added to the main stage line-up.

Fresh from supporting Muse on their European dates, I Am Arrows features former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows upfront on vocals, guitar and keyboards. Described as a meld of The Beatles, MGMT and Elliott Smith, the North London outfit are signed to Universal. Their debut album Sun Comes Up Again is released on July 19 and was previewed as one of NME's Albums of 2010.

Sunderland/ Newcastle-upon Tyne four piece Little Comets cite Debussy, Roald Dahl, Ella Fitzgerald and Paul Simon as influences and have toured with bands including Hockey, The Twang and Noisettes.  Their single last year One Night in October received strong backing from Huw Stevens, Zane Lowe and Sara Cox and made it to number three in the UK independent singles chart.

Looking like Bowie done up as a 40s matinee idol, art school drop-out Alan Pownall was spotted at London’s Troubador by ‘Chasing Pavements’ Adele who took him out on tour and made sure he was introduced to all the right people. Writing beautifully breezy yet understated loping pop tunes, his debut album True Love Stories is out July 19. Read our interview with Alan Pownall here.

There are new announcements elsewhere at Wickerman too.  The Scooter Tent, which explodes with some of the best punk and ska acts around, now sees Bombskare, MetalTech, The Famous Class, Esperanza and Joe Viterbo all now confirmed.

Jamie Gilroy, land owner and director, commented: “Just when you thought the line-up couldn’t get any better we have all these new bands added to the bill. Wickerman is all about discovery and having a good time and we’re sure I Am Arrows, Little Comets and Alan Pownall will make an amazing weekend even more unforgettable.”

The Wickerman Festival takes place near Kirkcudbright, Dumfries & Galloway, on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 July, and will welcome an eclectic line-up of rock, indie, punk, electro, techno, drum & bass, reggae and folk music across eight stages. There will also be the most extraordinary selection of extra activities to be found on any festival site anywhere in the world.
