Michel Cleis ‘La Mezcla’ wins track of the season, at the Pacha DJ awards, Ibiza 09.
Yes it’s official. The Swiss / French producer Michel Cleis has been awarded the respected ‘Best Ibiza Track’ for 'La Mezcla' at the Pacha DJ awards in Ibiza on the 24th of September. We always said it would be big and now it is.
We all now recognise that distinct flute sample adapted from the Afro-Latin performers work Totó La Momposina... sounding a little like a hypnotic Frère Jacques.
'La Mezcla' is now a truly inimitable summer record that has touched the collective consciousness of Ibiza this year.
The record’s success is not entirely surprising as Pete Tong has expressed his support with four plays to date, and it’s become ubiquitous in Ibiza with spins in every club from every DJ! Indeed, support has come from across the board: starting with Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano, spreading out to Dennis Ferrer, Louie Vega, Laidback Luke and Erick Morillo.
Michel Cleis has stated ‘The record’s success is down to my girl friend, she concretely introduced me to Toto La Momposina 's work, the Colombian artist who was the basis of La Mezcla’.
The track was released and promoted by Strictly Rhythm a label that is no stranger to Ibiza Buzz tracks.
The record goes on general release on Nov 2nd with new remixes from Copyright, Charles Webster and DJ Roog (Hardsoul).
