November 12th marks the release of ‘Set Me On Fire’, the third EP from Liverpool-based dance duo Killaflaw. Delivering a unique sound combining the electronic wizardry of Andy Paton and the impressive vocal capacity of Benn Helm, the pair have already garnered critical acclaim from the likes of the BBC, XFM, Kerrang! and Fran Healy of Travis.

Set Me on Fire is bursting with the signature Killaflaw sound – a dexterous blend of beats and raw, rock influenced vocals. The title track is the perfect example of the band’s ability to cross boundaries and create a sound that successfully fuses a wide variety of musical genres. An undeniably catchy melody is coupled with a hard-hitting rock driven beat, rounded off with a vocal that would do Chris Cornell proud and convert even the most diehard of rock fans!

Taking their name from Howlin' Wolf's sublime 'Killing Floor', the band formed in 2006 and by February 2008 they had won Liverpool’s Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) award, before being selected by Fran Healy of Travis to appear on the EP ‘Play. Stop. Rewind.’ Their debut EP ‘Revolution’ was released in October 2008 and secured the boys firm support from the likes of the BBC’s Tom Robinson, Kerrang!’s Emma Scott and XFM’s Eddy Temple-Morris. ‘Revolution’ then went on to win Xfm’s Demo of the Year award for 2008.

Killaflaw have been keeping busy and gathering momentum ever since. Several exciting musical projects have ensued, including collaborations with Shunda K of Yo!Majesty, remixes by Ed Cosens of Reverend and the Makers (who has also proposed a writing partnership with the duo….) and their yet to be released debut album, Sleaze and Grit’ will be produced by Eddie Temple-Morris and Tom Bellamy. This month the band announced that Utah Saints will soon begin work on a head ripping remix of one of their tunes – a project which will no doubt be met with much anticipation. Following lauded live support slots with Alabama 3 and Phil Hartnoll of Orbital, Killaflaw went on to perform at this year’s Secret Garden Party, providing one of the festival’s highlights.
