Joanna Newsom confirms one-off London gig

13th Jun 2008

US folk chanteuse Joanna Newsom will perform a one-off gig in London later this year.

The singer, whose 2006 album Ys received rave reviews, revealed that she would play at one of the most picturesque venues for gigs in London, Somerset House.

Taking place on July 20th, the show will be the singer's first in the UK since she played the Royal Albert Hall last year.

Since then, her live performances have wowed critics, especially when she performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in Sydney Opera House.

The Somerset House Summer Series traditionally brings a highly varied group of musical acts to the classical setting. This year, some other bands performing include The Fratellis, Lupe Fiasco, We Are Scientists and Adele.

The undoubted highlight occurs on July 11th, when French dance masters Justice are due to take to the stage.
