Jack Johnson First Announcement for Eden Sessions 2010

1st Feb 2010

Singer-songwriter Jack Johnson is announced today as the first Eden Sessions headliner for 2010. Jack, who hails from Hawaii and is also an acclaimed film-maker, will play at the home of the famous Biomes on Saturday June 26.

As well as writing and contributing to a number of film soundtracks, keen surfer Jack has released four solo albums - Brushfire Fairytales, On and On and two UK album chart-toppers In Between Dreams and Sleep Through the Static. A new album (as yet untitled) is slated for release in the UK on May 31.

In total, Jack has sold more than 15 million albums and the recording of both his last album, Sleep Through the Static, and his upcoming release were powered entirely by solar energy.

The Sessions are famed not only for bringing top acts to Cornwall but also for their festival feel, with extra bands and entertainers playing around the site in the run-up to the main event. Massage and alternative therapies will also be showcased around Eden on the day of each Session.

Tjarko Wieringa, Eden Sessions Creative Director, said: "After last year's amazing Sessions line-up, which many considered the best ever, it is great that we have such a hugely talented artist to kick off 2010. Watch this space - in the coming weeks we have more top names to add to Jack's, guaranteed to make 2010 another vintage year.” He added: "This year's Sessions will be even better value. We are looking at making the whole day of each concert a magical experience of music and art with a real festival party feel."

Further announcements on Eden’s 2010 line-up will be made in due course.

The 2010 Sessions will be the ninth season of summer gigs at the Eden Project. Headliners in previous years include Oasis, Moby, Kasabian, Amy Winehouse, Snow Patrol, Basement Jaxx, PJ Harvey, Muse and Air.
