'Epic guitar of classic Bunnymen tempered by scuzzy Scottish scrappiness and charged boy-girl vocals, it's sure to fire you up'
New Town Killers single (out now) is the lead track from the film of the same name which features Dougray Scott and features the film's director fellow Scot Richard Jobson (the Skids) on vocals. The track received it's first UK play on Lauren Laverne's BBC 6 show last month and has since featured on Steve Lamacq's and Chris Hawkin's BBC 6 shows as well as Janice Long's Radio 2 show and Kerrang! ISA & THE FILTHY TONGUES
Isa & Filthy Tongues release their new single Big Star
Isa and Martin Metcalfe (Goodbye Mr McKenzie) lead the band and they are already getting rave reviews for their dark underground sound. There’s little doubt that the guys in this band have spent years in dark places brewing up this smouldering batch of bitter edged, poison tinged, sonic assaults.
Stacey Chavis from Portland, Oregon came along to assume the role of Isa and provide the kind of cool, charismatic, rock ‘n’ roll grit ‘n’ spit vocals that have enabled them, together, to produce one tough mother of a record.

2009 is already proving to be a huge year for the band with the release of the single New Town Killers. Taken from the Richard Jobson film of the same name. The single received support from numerous BBC 6 and Radio 2 shows including Janice Long, Lauren Laverne, Liz Kershaw, Chris Hawkins, Iyare and many more.
The anthemic quality of the track is undoubted, as might be expected from the key personnel of Goodbye Mr Mckenzie. Metcalfe's guitar-playing is a shimmering delight, redolent of the Deep South and carries the sound to dark places reminiscent, at times, of Depeche Mode or Echo and the Bunnymen, blending Gothic Country twang with Lydia Lunch-esque debauchery with a collage of sounds and words that falls innocently into the punk rock.
Armed with quite a history the band plan a huge assault on the UK music landscape in 2009 including single and album releases as well as live appearances including an exclusive after-show in Edinburgh to launch the New Town Killers film.
