Tony Bennett catches up with the New York DJ and producer ahead of the release of his FabricLive compialtion for a quick chat about lime juice, ambitions of running a restaurant and vampire chic.
Where does the name come from?
In old New York, gangs would leave their mark by squeezing lime juice on their enemies doorsteps. Leaving the dried lime meant they were coming to take over that territory by sunrise.
What are your biggest musical influences?
Life after dark under the influence of sub-sonic frequencies.
Where do you want to take your music?
More live elements mixed with electronic, more rockabilly and surf guitar blended with the club sound.
Is there anything you want to do in life that you aren’t doing or haven’t done yet?
Run a restaurant, become a chef.
How much money is in your pocket at this exact moment in time?
8,500 Euros and £20
A lot of the UK electronic scene have a slight obsession with you and the T&B (Trouble and Bass) brand, how do you feel about it, and your oversees fans? Do they differ from your home crowd?
T&B is a lifestyle; the fans that support our movement are a part of our family, they help increase the momentum and inspire us to continue to push the envelope and bring them with us along the ride.
Given the long line of big name artists who have done FabricLive compilations, how do you feel about being asked to do one, and what do you think of it?
It was a complete honour. I have always looked to the FabricLive mixes as groundbreaking and wide spread diverse.
If you were on an island, and you could only have 3 things, what would they be?
A fox's tail, a monk fish's spine, and a dragon rose's thorn.
Some people say you look like a 50's mobster, others say vampire. Have you been getting way more chicks since the whole Robert Patterson-Full Moon thing blew up?
Who's Robert Patterson?
Who’s Robert Patterson?! Don’t lie...! And finally, what have you got coming up? Plug something...
We just shot the music video to my album single, ‘Hot as Hell’. That will be dropping in the fall and my full length will be dropping shortly after that.
