The party celebrates Garuda’s talismanic front man Gareth Emery notching up a century of podcasts, bringing his take on melody driven dance music to the wider masses. Emery is an undoubted twenty first century success story. Combining the incandescence of youth with the skill and craft of an artist twice his age, Emery's sonic reinterpretation of trance music has sought to clutch a new platform for the genre.
Joining him will be Simon Patterson. Patterson also knows the power of melody and groove within trance, his Dogzilla project a hugely successful institution that reaped the monstrous ‘Without You’. Since going solo, Patterson has made a serious of fervently received singles and remixes, a fixture of DJs sets across the globe, with Marco V, Eddie Halliwell and Above and Beyond all certified fans. 2008, saw him gain seven consecutive no. 1 tracks on the Beatport download chart, an unprecedented success, and with DJ bookings coming for Planet Love, Global Gathering, Gatecrasher and many, many more.
There’s more trance too from Menno de Jong and Jerome Isma-ae. Menno has been a name well known to fans of the music for a hot minute now, the Dutch tycoon crashing into the DJMag top 100 in 48th place this year and a fitting addition to this bill on account of his pioneering work in podcasts (his Intuition podcast was one of the first success stories). Jerome may be at this minute slightly less known, but don’t expect that to stay that while for long. Already tipped as one to watch, Emery has been charting his tracks for a while and is excited at bringing the young ‘un with huge potential to the club.
And then the final curveball, as fop haired maestro and Argentinean mainstay Hernan Cattaneo comes on board upstairs in Spektrum. Cattaneo is rightly feted as one of the biggest names in modern dance music, wildly revered in all spheres on account of his mesmerising mixing and unflinching versatility. Hernan brings it from every angle, whipping up floors into frenzies with melody drenched progressive house, bone crushing techno, funk laded house and the odd tinge of floating trance. Adam Flexer, Sankeys’ resident of unflinching quality and the go-to man for progressive tech tinged trance, completes the line-up.
