Haul out the party poppers; Liverpool rave experts Freeze will turn nine on Friday 12th December with a special party in The Garage. The clubnight has had quite the ride since that first record was played in late 2005, moving on from the city's revered Lemon Lounge to every reputable establishment the city can offer ever since.

They've also built up the knack of transforming Liverpool landmarks into rave spaces, from the underground cavern of the Williamson Tunnels to the evangelical wonder of Liverpool Cathedral, St George's Hall's Victorian splendour (main image) via the jaw dropping open aired paradise of the Bombed Out Church.

Musically has also been top notch. There’s been the theatrics of Luciano and his Cadenza stable, the imperious Innervisions cartel of Dixon and Ame, and the off kilter techno of Micheal Mayer.

On top of that there has been the  languid disco joy of Crazy P and Greg Wilson (listen to him live from Freeze above), Marcel Dettman and Paco Osuna’s visceral hedonism and the groove heavy genius of Danny Howells, and that legacy is lived up to with a Freeze first at this event - Steve Lawler and his VIVa Warriors Imprint.

As one of the world's most reverential DJs, Lawler's ability to weave intricate sets of muscular house and techno hasn;t been in doubt for the past twenty years.

Former Cream resident, he's been feted as a tribal house doyen and dubbed the King of Space by Spanish clubbers on account of his masterful command of the legendary Ibizan club's Terrace, but it's spearheading VIVa where he has really excelled in recent years.

The imprint has become a go to for house and techno par excellence, as well as a fearsomely hedonistic party that has been the flagship of Sankeys Ibiza every Sunday at the club as well at around the globe.

This will be the first time VIVa Warriors does a solo show in the city, and comes off a UK tour that has already sold out Newcastle and hits Leeds, London and more (full details here).

Lawler will be joined by the architecht of the Mannheim sound Nick Curly (listen to him on Adam Beyer's Drumcode Radio above) and Hot Creations stalwart Denney, whilst Freeze resident and mainstay Jemmy will support. Grab Freeze tickets here or follow the box below.
