Five of the best acts at Farr Festival 2016

You'll struggle to find an electronic line up as on point as Farr Festival's this year. Nestled in an uninhabited woodland forest in Hertfordshire is a whole world of musical exploration amongst impressive arenas, stages and performers.

Founded in 2009, Farr Festival has grown from a small gathering for those with a deep-rooted passion for music, to a nationally and internationally recognised music festival with a forward-thinking edge. 

Ahead of this year's installment, we looked through the roster for this year's two-day festival which runs from Thursday 14th to Saturday 16th July and picked out five of our favourite acts that we think should be on your agenda.

Jasper James B2B Harri

It's not often you'll get to see (or want to see) a father and son DJ together, but these two are good, really good. Sub Club resident Harri is a stalwart component of Glasgow's burgeoning underground scene, so it's only natural that Jasper has followed in his footsteps. Expect unrecognisable gems and a whole load of party starters.

Ben Pearce

Ben Pearce tickets

DJ Mag's 2013 Best Breakthrough producer is becoming just as well known for his skills as a remixer as he is for his own compositions. Pearce's classic disco sets are unmissable and he even has the backing of the legend that is Giorgio Moroder, performing at the Italian's album launch last year. If he's good enough for Giorgio then he's good enough for us.

Hunee

Hunee tickets.

One of the undeniable breakout talents of recent years, Hunee's ability to shift through the classic eras of dance music - disco, acid house, 90s techno and modern grooves - is matched with a keen ear for the experimental music made in Africa of the 80s.

No better is this evidenced than on his slew of classic mixes, a belter of a Dekmantel Boiler Room joined by a flawless near three hour offering from the ADE closing night at the sadly departed Trouw back in 2013 (above). His diminutive appearance also offsets a truly glorious sight behind the decks, a physical manifestation of the flair laden style which has caused his ascendancy.

Jimmy Coultas

Denis Sulta

Denis Sulta tickets

Denis Sulta is further proof that there's something in that Glaswegian water. His music is a brilliant marriage of unmistakable vocal lines and gargantuan techno backdrops that saw him produce two massive 12" releases for Dixon Avenue Basement Jams last year. His Sub Club Boiler Room set (above) is reason enough to make him a must see.

Young Marco 

Young Marco tickets

Young Marco is part of a wave of Amsterdam-based producers who just keep getting in right (he's in the company of other Farr selections including Job Jobse and the aforementioned Hunee).

A resident for the city's praised Rush Hour record store and a regular at Dekmantel festival (his Boiler Room above was taken from there), Marco's experimental productions have lead to an abundance of enviable gigs and opportunities.
