Friday sees We Have Band on their Liverpool leg of their debut album national tour. With a sound that resembles what you can imagine happening if The XX partied with Block Party, it’s well worth a look. Tickets are selling fast from all outlets for this one, so get them soon.
Also in Liverpool while touring are Australian rock band Airbourne. Their style is pedal to the floor and in their own words is the sound of ‘drunken debauchery’. If straight up Rock & Roll suits you, we recommend going to see them. It’s at the O2 Academy, the production will be on point. Just eat well before hand; you’ll need the energy.
Saturdays big event; the Cream Easter Special, featuring a certain legendary Eric Prydz is a guaranteed sell out. Not only that, but the bill also features Steve Angello amongst others. We don’t need to tell you this is going to be good, we don’t need to tell you that you’re going to have to write Sunday off completely to recover, but we kind of just did.
If you fancy something a little different on either Friday or Saturday, you do have the option of Oklahoma, The Musical. First opening in 1943, Oklahoma is a classic tale of men fighting over women, romance and jealousy. One could say it could be a story told from any era! It’s won numerous awards over the years, and if you’re feeling a little more cultured, this could be your ideal Easter weekend event.
Sunday and the tempo is back up again with Circus at The Masque. Some big acts confirmed by the names of John Digweed, Ricardo Villalobos and Yousef, a strong line-up with a combined reputation of putting on a real party! This is not for weaklings. It’s due to packed out, so it’s worth getting tickets sooner rather than later. Oh, and wear your dancing shoes!
So you want to make it to Liverpool this Easter weekend and need somewhere to stay? Here are our recommendations. On Friday, Feathers Hotel, a fresh 4* have rooms at a great price, which include, pool, gym and sauna use for those who want to wind down before they depart. Alternately, Roscoe House, another beautiful 4*would be ideal for anyone wanting a little class at a reasonable price.
On Saturday you could stay at either or the addresses mentioned above, if you don’t fancy that; The Eleanor Rigby Hotel is a small family run 3* with a cosy environment. If you’d rather stay somewhere a little more luxurious, then Atlantic Tower may be more suitable for you.
Sundays recommendations are Bridgestreet at Liverpool ONE, rooms are well priced, and come with all the free technology that you want. L3 Living would be another good shout for Sunday, with rooms currently available from £80, you’re getting a lot for your money.
