DOES IT OFFEND YOU YEAH? @ PLUG, SHEFFIELD
New wave, electronic rockers, Does it Offend you Yeah? are set to come crashing into the buzzing Plug nightclub in Sheffield on Tuesday 6th April.
The gig comes shortly after the release of the bands much anticipated second album Dont say we didnt warn you this March which promises to be as euphoric and dynamic as the bands first album You have no idea what youre getting yourself into (2008).
Does it Offend you Yeah? are known for their raucous live gigs filled with crashing electronic guitars, exhilarating synths and crowd-diving, a sure fire recipe to send the crowd into a frenzy. With their high-energy performances its no wonder there is a real buzz around their live shows.
Hailing from Reading and London these electro-indie rockers came together in 2006 and have been compared to Hadouken, Late of the Pier, Klaxons, Daft Punk and Digitalism. The band has remixed tracks by Muse, Bloc Party, The White Stripes and The Raconteurs. Does it Offend you Yeah? combine electronics with live instruments to produce infectious up-beat tracks such as their most well-known track We are Rockstars.
The band consists of five members who sing, play synthesisers, electric guitars, bass guitars and drums. The band admit that their name, thought by many to be some kind of statement, came about after switching on the television and hearing comedian Ricky Gervais exclaim, Does it offend you yeah? My drinking? on British comedy show The Office.
Tickets for the gig will be snapped up fast as they only cost £10, but dont worry you can purchase them here through Skiddle. The event takes place at Plug in Sheffield and doors are open from 7pm until midnight. The Plug is known for its friendly, vibrant atmosphere and often puts on popular live shows. The club is situated in the heart of the city centre and is easily accessible as it is located within walking distance of both the bus and railway station and has a taxi rank right outside.
No doubt a performance by a band as enthusiastic and fast-paced as Does it Offend you Yeah? will leave you exhausted and begging for a place to catch some shut eye before you head home. If convenience is the first thing on your mind then we recommend the newly refurbished hotel Novotel, with its superior en-suite rooms and heated indoor swimming pool, all at a reasonable price. It is also situated just 80 yards from the city centre and only a few minutes from the train station. If money matters are your first priority then you may want to check out Sheffields Sleep Hotel, an affordable option which is still conveniently situated in the heart of the city centre and very close to the music venue.
