This year stamping ground09 will be touring an exciting mix of companies including regional, national and international artists all supported by Nottingham-based youth group Freestylerz . All Play will be defying gravity with a spell-binding piece of aerial dance theatre, whilst Minna no Project will entertain audiences with a whirlwind of comical exchanges and playful embraces. East Midlands based Polka Dot Can-can Troupe will be showing off their ruffles, twirls, kicks and flicks in a can-can routine with a contemporary twist.
Local youth dance group Freestylerz, join the festival tour with their upbeat, hip-hop performances. Aged 11 – 19yrs old, the company will get the experience of working on a touring festival, giving them an insight into a career in dance. stamping ground09 will also be giving other local youth groups the opportunity to perform, including Freedom Movement who were recently seen enjoying success on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
Alongside the festival programme, stamping ground09 are also organising outreach sessions in schools across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, courtesy of the community relations team at East Midlands Airport. Led by companies performing in stamping ground, the airport support will give young people the chance to engage with professional artists and gain an insight into the pieces being showcased this year.
