Download Festival organisers are proud to announce the second stage at this years festival will be called The Dimebag Darrell Stage. Arguably the greatest guitarist of all time, Darrell was shot dead in 2004 while performing on stage. His bands Pantera, Damageplan and Rebel Meet Rebel all had great success, and festival organisers felt that this was a fitting tribute to a legendary man that has influenced and inspired many great bands.

Vinnie Paul, Dimebag Barrells brother, and drummer in Pantera, Damageplan and Rebel Meet Rebel "I am proud to announce we have the privilege of honoring my brother Dimebag Darrell by naming the Second Stage after him...This is a huge honour and I'm sure the blacktooths will be flowin!!!!! This tribute to Dime will bring a special vibe to the Download/Donington Festival which he was part of several times and loved it... Dimes legacy continues to grow, and he lives through his music and spirit, and for the Second Stage to be named after him in association with the Download/Donington Festival, which is such a legendary event and landmark in rock history, is truly rock royalty!!!!!!! Getcha pull!!!'

Download Festival Promoter, Andy Copping pays tribute to the man himself- "Reflecting on the spirit of Download and Donington, we wanted to come up with some way of remembering Dimebag Darrell. The idea of naming a stage after him came to mind immediately. Anyone who met Dimebag, saw him play or listened to his music knows that they were in the presence of someone very unique and very special. Dimebag Darrell was one of us and if he wasn't in a band, he'd be at Download in the crowd moshing and drinking and air guitaring with the rest of us.....you can tell he loved what he did and it makes it all the more fitting that we can honour his memory by naming a stage at Download after him. Sadly he has gone but he will never, ever be forgotten. Dimebag Darrell - Download and Donington salutes you"

The festival organisers are also excited to announce that Stage Three has been named after this years official beer sponsor Tuborg. This global brand based in Denmark, will be the wetting the whistles of thirsty rock fans through out the entire weekend. www.tuborg.co.uk

Download organisers have taken massive strides into making the festival more environmentally sound in 2007, and they are committed to delivering an event that continually improves its environmental performance. From introducing bikes for members of staff to use on site, to launching a lift share program, from using energy efficient light bulbs to using Crafty Crapper toilets that compost human waste.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary, Download Festival has so far announced an incredible line-up that includes My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park and Iron Maiden as the headliners. Paramore, Cancer Bats, Satellite Party, Head Automatica, Napalm Death, Suicidal Tendencies, Saosin, Zico Chain, My Vitriol, Yourcodenameis:Milo, The Answer, Orange Goblin, Porcupine Tree and Anathema are the latest acts confirmed to play at the festival that guarantees the best rock music on the planet.

Napalm Death have been one of the most influential metal bands of all time. They are generally acknowledged as the group that invented gridcore, and are one of the top 20 best selling death metal bands of all time. This is their second appearance at Download.

Napalm Deaths Mark Barney Greenway - "It was a great surprise to be asked to play Download again, although the rabid response we got last time hopefully set us in good stead. I can't wait! It's always pleasurable to show such a large gathering of people how music can really be taken to the ninth degree."

Hailing from Franklin Tennessee, Paramore are an alternative rock band destined for big things. With their second studio album due in June, 2007 is going to be a massive year for them. Paramore's frontlady Hayley Williams said "We ended our two years of touring on 'All We Know Is Falling' in the UK last October, and we got some of the best responses on that tour we'd ever had in those entire two years. Download is going to be huge and even though we want to gain a ton of new fans, we hope to see a bunch of familiar faces in the crowd, too. See you guys there!"

Some of the debutants at this years festival include, Suicidal Tendencies, who are confirmed to headline the third stage on the Friday night, Orange Goblin who play in support of their new album released in May of this year, Liverpools brilliant Anathema, Saosin who play as part of a world tour, plus critically and publicly acclaimed My Vitriol.

Returning to the UK's biggest weekend of alternative rock are progressive rockers Porcupine Tree, music experimentalists Yourcodenameis:Milo, fuzzed up three piece Zico Chain, and hard/blues rockers The Answer.

70,000 people descended on Donington Park in 2006, making Download the must see alternative festival of the year. Major successes of last year return again with the 24/7 entertainment at ‘The Village’ and extended camping facilities (Opening midday on Wednesday 6 June, and closing at noon on Monday 11 June) all part of the Download 2007 festival experience.

ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES
Live Nation recognises that Download creates environmental impacts through the transport of goods and people, the use of resources and the generation of large volumes of waste that contribute to global environmental problems such as climate change.

We recognise the moral and business imperatives of integrating sustainable solutions into the heart of the business and are committed to delivering an event that continually improves its environmental performance.

We have worked with Sustain to identify our significant environmental impacts and followed the environmental management hierarchy approach to reducing these. Initially this focused on reducing the amount of resources we use and waste we produce. We've then looked at using alternative more sustainable resources and ensuring that our waste is either reused or recycled. We have employed a Leeds University student, Kim Rhodes, to be present on site form build to break to audit our environmental performance on an ongoing basis during the festival.

As a result of this we have been able to implement the following sustainable initiatives into this years Download festival:

Transport
- Launched a lift share program to help users commute to the festival
- Introduced a shuttle bus between the local public transport nodes
- Reduced the number of car parking spaces available and began charging for parking
- During the festival staff will be living on site to reduce the number of local journeys
- Introduced bikes for staff travel around the site

Energy / Resource use
- All site lighting will be using energy efficient bulbs
- Site wide energy efficiency program to turn off unused equipment
- Biodiesel will be trialled for the production village power supply
- There will be no programs this year; they will be blue-toothed to visitors as they enter the site.

Waste Management
- At the end of the event all unwanted tents and camping equipment will be collected and donated to local Scout groups and Tents for Africa.
- There will be a deposit charged on beer cups that will be refunded on return; all of these cups will then be recycled.
- We have worked in partnership with NW Leicestershire District Council to install segregated paper, cans and plastic bins on site that will be uplifted on a regular basis and sent for recycling.
- The University of Central England, as part of the Event Design Course will be given Used cans from the site to create a piece of art during the event that will then be recycled back into more cans by a local charity employing the disadvantaged.

Stewardship
- We have brought on specific environmental groups / charities to give advice to festival goers about improving their environmental impacts away from the event.
- Crafty Crapper will be onsite to compost human waste from the toilets.
We are already planning for 2008 and intend to add extra initiatives in place by then covering the extensive use of renewable energy, intensive energy efficiency programs, composting of all food waste, increased use of recycled materials and improved transport solutions.
