This year Korn are to play with a unique line-up. With drummer, David Silveria currently on hiatus, they have got the legendary Joey Jordison of Slipknot to stand in. Headlining the Dimebag Darrell Stage on the opening night, this performance is sure to go down in Donington history as an ‘I was there’ moment.
Download Festival’s reputation as the UK’s best alternative summer event continues to grow. Having already announced some of the best new and established bands on the planet. Download add another thirteen acts to the fifth anniversary bill;
Ill Nino, After Forever, Lights.Action!, Kids in Glass Houses, The Hedrons, The Higher, Sanctity, Lauren Harris, Malpractice, Cult of Luna, My Dying Bride, Eyelash and Parikrama.
With safety of paramount importance at the festival organisers, this year they are going to be giving out one million condoms for free. They will be distributed around the Donington Park site for the entire weekend to ensure that any ‘extra curricular fun’ is done as safe as possible.
As well as Downloads initiatives to decrease the carbon footprint of the festival, they are excited to introduce the Eco Workshop, a unique hands on workshop for all ages. From constructing a dynamo, to making refreshments on a bike blender, it’s an experience that gives Download Festival goers the opportunity to become more environmentally aware, not just at Donington Park, but in their day to day living. Also returning to the festival for 2007 is the The Retreat, which offers a range of massage treatments from Aromatherapy to Indian Head… it’s the ultimate place to relax.
This is not only the first time Parikrama have come over to the UK to play a festival, it is the first time any Indian band has, and they can’t wait. Parikrama are truly unique, fusing traditional Indian instruments such as, mridangam, tabla and flute with conventional instruments like guitar, drums and keyboards.
Parikrama’s keyboardist, Subir Malik… "This is our first International concert, and I really don’t think that anyone would be more lucky than us, to have it in the form of the Download festival. We are a 16 year old band, with more than a 1000 concert appearances, but suddenly we feel as we were just formed yesterday. The rockers in India are really excited and so are we. Really looking forward to kick some serious butt at Download...Cheerz"
Returning to Donington Park for a second time is the delectable and hard rocking Lauren Harris. Having recently come off a full European tour with Download headliners Iron Maiden, she looks set to become one of the most important women in rock over the coming years.

Ill Nino’s 2001 debut album, ‘Revolution Revolución’, was met with critical acclaim and sold in excess of 300,000 copies. Their 2003 follow up ‘Confession’ was again met with the same hysteria and sold in excess of 400,000, with lead single ‘How Can I Live’ breaking into the Billboard 200. Live they have a sound that is thick and full of texture. The twin guitars create this wall of rock that it is near impenetrable, combine this with the drum/percussion duo, Ill Nino are monstrous.

Scotland’s The Hedrons are the hardest hitting female fourpiece playing live music today. Their critically acclaimed debut album, ‘One More Won’t Kill Us’ was release in 2006 and was supported with a UK tour that saw them play in excess of 120 shows, including a personally invited support slot with Alice In Chains. Described as the modern day love child of The Foo Fighters and Joan Jett, their live show has an energy and vigour that most can only dream of.
The Hedrons guitarist Rosie Hedrons… "We’re so excited to be back at one of our favourite festivals of the year – Download was our first proper festival bill as a band so we always aim to rock extra hard there. We are absolutely looking forward to making even more of a racket this time round!"
Hailing from Sweden, Cult of Luna have shunned the conventional song structures, opting for a sound that evolves throughout a song, sometimes toward a climactic crescendo. Having garnered critical appreciation and underground popularity with early releases ‘Cult Of Luna’ and ‘The Beyond’, it was 2004's ‘Salvation’ that broke the band, and receive critical acclaim from the main stream music press.
Six piece My Dying Bride’s music is characterised by romantic, sensual lyrics and an obsessive attention to atmospheric detail. With an intense live show, My Dying Bride’s thundering guitar and bass riffs, superlative drumming, tortured vocals, and use of haunting violin and keyboard sounds make them unmistakable.
Also confirmed to join proceedings are classically influenced After Forever, one of the hottest new bands of the moment Lights.Action!, Wales’ power rockers Kids In Glass Houses, LA’s The Higher who are presently on a sold out US tour, Sanctity who count Dave Mustaine as one of their biggest fans, one of the hottest underground punk bands in Detroit Malpractice, and punk rock male/female four piece Eyelash.

70,000 people descended on Donington Park in 2006, making Download the must see alternative festival of the year.
