In a year where Ibiza found it tougher than previous years, for various reasons, one of the main success stories of the island was Space’s In House night BE @ SPACE on a Thursday.
Anyone who was lucky enough to in there will agree that the line-ups represented everything that is exciting about Electronic Dance Music in 2009. And residing deep within those line-ups, filling the gap left by the mighty Danny Tenaglia, were the constant residential sets of Chris Liebing.
Every week, be it the Terrace or the Main Room, Liebing has taken responsibility for representing the sound of this strangely defining night in Ibiza’s First club. Taking influence from the passing sub genres of modern Techno music, whilst maintaining a thread of integrity from his early days as a Techno pioneer, we now see him today at the hight of his career.
His track record speaks for itself, resident at Sven Vath's now legendary club OMEN in Germany, releases on the same COCOON label and being the first name on the list for the yearly celebrations of all things Tech, including I LOVE TECHNO in Ghent, TIMEWARP in Mannheim, or the LOVE PARADE of Berlin.
And for all this recognition and achievement, his UK performances are rare and special ones. With only two UK dates, and this one the only one that sees him play to an intimate crowd in the Sankeys’ main room, this is another Manchester event that sees the best of the best, play in the greatest spaces, for the most up for it of crowds.
