Chibuku New Years Eve Announced
1st Dec 2008
For those in the know this is the place to be. The distillation of a year’s worth of partying – and let’s face it, 2008 has been vintage Chibuku in Liverpool, London and Ibiza – but there’s arguably no night more anticipated by clubbers and promoters alike than New Year’s Eve hosted by the famed red, blue and white carton.
From radiators being pulled of walls back in the Lemo’ Lounge days of yore to more contemporary scenes of unbridled chaos, there’s a certain special something about unleashing the residents over the whole night. No outlandish superstar egos to worry about massaging. No who’s picking who up from the airport. No frantic purchasing of an extravagant rider. No. It’s really more tantamount to the lunatics taking over the asylum, and for one night only Chibuku is a melting pot heated and riotously stoked up by the residents and friends who underpin the night’s aural success, unhooked from warm-up duties for this glorious six-hour session and suitably treating those in attendance to everything from house and techno to breaks and hip-hop, from disco and dubstep to funk and soul.
Tickets always fly for this year-concluding party and it’s not hard to understand why. And yes. It’s fancy dress too. This year’s theme is loosely: “Blue Oyster meets Rod Stewart,” so says Rich McGinnis, the club’s architect. But that doesn’t really matter. Not that much. So long as you dress up.
So here it is. The last party of 2008 brought to you by Chibuku Shake Shake. Already people will be thinking about the 9th birthday party in March. Possible returns to Ibiza in the summer. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Let’s focus on this party coming up – the only way to sing/dance/cheer/rave into the start of 2009…
Happy New Year Everyone!
