A number of significant album releases last week meant that this week's charts would be widely contested; Florence + The Machine stole top spot with How Big How Blue, How Beautiful ahead of Jamie xx's In Colour that scaled to third spot

Florence's sparkling effort (listen to 'What Kind Of Man' above) finally ousted Taylor Swift's 1989, while Jamie xx will expect to challenge the top two spots in upcoming weeks as his record gathers pace. Slaves ranked at number 8 with Are You Satisfied?, a significant movement for an anarchic punk number in the present day.

We're not quite sure who still purchases singles but Jason Derulo is king of that mound with 'Want To Want Me', although that same cut peaks the download charts to closely correlate the polarising methods of modern day listening. Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar's 'Bad Blood' is the second most legally extracted from the internet.

The vinyl resurgence belongs to Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' 'Riverman' (below), closely followed by Slaves 'Feed The Mantaray' up 33 due to the album release and Vaccines' 'Dream Lover' that surrendered top spot.

As streaming wars continue to dominate the headlines, Felix Jaehn's remix of Omi's 'Cheerleader' is racking up the most air play, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's 'See You Again' follows, with Major Lazer ft Mo & DJ Snake 'Lean On' wearing the bronze medal for the week.

Mick Hucknall is our chart warrior of the week, for the simple reason that the world's biggest superstar at the moment, Taylor Swift, is no match for Simply Red's album chart entry at number four with Big Love. Better luck next time Taylor.
