British Sea Power and More Added to Guilfest

6th May 2008

British Sea Power, the fantastic four piece indie outfit, will be headlining the Ents24 Stage on Sunday 4th July at GuilFest 2008! Three albums into their flourishing career - the most recent album “Do You Like Rock Music?” hitting the top 10 in the UK album charts, British Sea Power have been described by the Sunday Times as “The best band in Britain”.  Their critically acclaimed live shows are famous throughout the UK – In 2004, the band won the Time Out London Live Band of the Year award.  GuilFest are delighted to welcome them to the line up at Stoke Park.

Joe Lean and The Jing Jang Jong will also be performing on the Ents24 stage on Sunday 4th July.  A high energy English indie band that have been gaining massive popularity and creating a huge buzz by selling out gigs up and down the country, they were placed 7th in the BBC Sound of 2008 poll.

Psychedelic electronic funksters The Egg will be performing at GuilFest on Friday 4th July on the Ents24 stage.  Known for their amazing improvised festival appearances throughout the world, the incredible musicians that form The Egg have been gigging everywhere from Austin, Texas, to the Third Post-Apartheid Festival in South Africa in recent years.  Expect a set full of infectious electronic grooves and beats.

Wills & The Willing are to play the Main stage sponsored by Commercial Radio on Saturday 5th July at GuilFest 2008, fresh from the release of their second album, Heroes & Villains.  Guest vocalists on the new album include Mercury Music Prize nominated singer Tom McRae, rapper Dandelion, Kubb frontman Harry Collier, Moke members John Hogg and Charlie Morton, plus footballers Didier Drogba and Michael Essien. Essien and Drogba have collaborated with Wills on what will be the first single from the album, the track 'Skin' - you can see the video for this track on YouTube.com.  Expectations are that these Chelsea FC superstars will also be appearing onstage at GuilFest 2008 with Wills and the Willing!!!!

Keeping on the subject of football, GuilFest is very happy to announce that it will have it’s very own David Beckham Soccer Academy at the festival this year which will be offering free coaching sessions from professional coaches to children between the ages of 5 and 15, quiz activities and even a football free-styler performing skills and tricks!

Other festival attractions include Farmer Giles’ Barn Dance - so get on down and grab your partner for a bit of “Dosey – Doh!” - Superb cocktail bars, street performers, great arts and crafts, a fabulous selection of food from around the world and, as usual, the massive 150’ long bar means nobody has to wait very long for refreshment!
