Blu ecigs 'Freedom Of The DJ' documentary

Over the past few weeks Blu have provided us with an insight into dance music culture past and present via their eight part 'Freedom Of The DJ' documentary series. So far we've explored the roots of house music in the UK (more on that from our interview with Marshall Jefferson here) and the defining era of house music in Liverpool due to the meteoric rise of Cream. 

This time around, the third installment, 'Not In My Back Yard' (below) looks into the reinvention of London's club scene after huge property re-development and skyrocketing property prices have affected past celebrated London night spots like Milk Bar, Turnmills, Cable, The Cross, The End and Astoria.

The documentary features prominent figures n the scene at the time; DJ Marky, Mr C, Seb Fontaine and Nicky Holloway reminiscing over the nineties when dance music was rife in London, and how London has embraced the change by raving at pop-up clubs in temporary spaces around the City in more recent times. 

Taking things into the present, Blu's music tour is still under way around the UK, with rave ups in Newcastle, Leeds, Birmingham and Nottingham still to happen featuring the likes of Jackmaster, Zinc, Deadboy and Gorgon City. You can enter for free tickets to these shows via ballot do so here.
