BELLA ANNOUNCES EMERGING TALENT

Every year we are flooded with hundreds of applications from unsigned artistes wanting to play our HAIL Seedlings Stage, generously sponsored by Highlands And Island Live. The emphasis of the eventual choice is on talent from the Highlands and Scotland generally, but not exclusively so. It’s always a difficult task deciding whom to choose – and this year seems to be harder than ever as the flood of talent has become a deluge. But the white smoke has gone up at last
and the Seedlings will feature:

Friday: The Side, Sergeant, St Deluxe, Flood of Red, Bronto Skylift, Healthy Minds Collpase, Cast of the Capital, Washington Irving and Colour Coded.

Saturday will feature: Our Lunar Activities, Punch & The Apostles, Theatre Fall, Party Horse, Sucioperro, Naked Strangers, Cruiser, Cassidy and Three Times Daily.

They join Headliners Editors and Ocean Colour Scene. Other acts already confirmed include, The Saw Doctors and Shed Seven, both making their first appearances at Belladrum, and the latter making Belladrum their only UK festival appearance of the summer, as well as quirky indie artists British Sea Power, Seth Lakeman, Alabama 3, Sons & Daughters, and Squeeze frontman Glen Tilbrook with his band The Fluffers.
Noah and the Whale, Broken Records, Babel, Healthy Minds Collapse, Magistrates, Tommy Womack, Phil Lee, Sparrow and the Workshop, Hatcham Social, Jo Hamilton, The Phantom Band, 3 Daft Monkeys, Edward II, The Wallbirds, Kid Carpet, Sam Isaac, The Lost Brothers.
Peatbog Faeries, Lau, Treacherous Orchestra, Transglobal Underground, Tommy Reilly have all also been confirmed, whilst gypsy punk specialists De Votchka are over from the US for a one-off Scottish festival appearance.

Advance prices for weekend tickets for 2009 have been held at 2008 levels of £80 (and free for children aged 12 & under) and £50 for Saturday tickets which become available in May . At the UK Festival Awards Ceremony in October – the festival industry’s ‘oscars’ - Bella was awarded the Grassroots Festival Award.
Belladrum 2009 takes place on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th August in the beautiful Highland surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire. The independent festival has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its whacky non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach. Capacity will remain what it was in 2008 at 12,000.
This year the festival is supported by Homecoming Scotland 2009. Marie Christie, Homecoming Scotland Project Director said, “Belladrum is one of Scotland’s leading family-friendly festivals.  Taking place in beautiful surroundings, the fantastic programme and quality experience make it an unmissable festival diary date.  We are excited to be working with the organisers to make sure 2009 hosts the best Bella yet ”.
