A magical debut album no doubt; recalling deep sea creatures, witches and vampires all washed into a kaleidoscope of spiralling pop hooks, psychedelic salts and the incredible vocal chords of frontman Felix Bushe. His voice recalls The Maccabees' Orlando Weeks, it's distinctive, compelling and instantly recognisable - an essential tonic for a prospering indie outfit.

Throughout, each song nonchantanly unravels, often emerging as a timid wave of sweet sentiment before tunnelling into an abyss - eventually the whole album almost unknowingly passes you by.

Victors magnificently plucked solos inspire unexpected turns, the planet hopping instrumental of 'Dark Star' arguably steals the show, 'Bathed In Light' bathes in a warped pastures and 'Embers' prospers from some off kilter weirdness. The parallel universe that this album is rooted is one that must be explored, a world where the outlandish meddle with modern guitar and sweet sweet melody to create the gentle monster that is Gengahr's debut platform.
