Released 1st June on Domino Records
Listening to Catacombs, the gorgeous melodies will leave you swooning, but if the sound is the attraction then the lyrics are the personality.
Reminiscent of Bob Dylan, his writing resembles poetry more than a song and like any great piece of art, is open to interpretation.
The lyrics are far more penetrable here, in contrast with his previous work which, to the untrained ear, might have been difficult to decipher, yet they remain as pertinent and artistic as that found in “A”, “PREfection” and the aforementioned “Dropping the Writ”.
With some of his more heartbreaking songs, he will tear you down until you are crying on the floor in the foetal position, but the very next track will pick you right up again, where you will proceed to snuggle for 4 minutes.
Feel good, feel bad, just feel.
