Our series of Q&As with artists appearing at The Wickerman Festival’s dance tent later this month continues, with hotly tipped eclectic house producer and DJ, Ant Brooks.
Ant Brooks burst onto the global house scene three years ago, when his first release ‘Shuffle’ gained support from Pete Tong on the Essential Mix. This instant success has held up, with Ant’s reputation for consistent quality building over the past three years with a string of hits and inclusions on high profile compilations.
With productions and remixes spanning across house, progressive house, tech house all the way through to techno genres, it’s Ant’s musical range that continues to keep him ahead of the competition.
He’ll be appearing on Saturday in the Skiddle.com tent as part of Wickerman’s Bass Camp, bringing his finely tuned DJ performance and techno house groovyness to the festival clubbers of Scotland.

What can we expect from your set at the Wickerman?
Plenty of summer groove, lots of my own new material and some big classics thrown in!
Describe your performance style - do you like to dance?
I am basically like a clubber in the crowd, but the other side of the decks! I'll be dancing at every given opportunity!
Vinyl or CDJ and why?
I made the move to CDJs years ago. It's great to be able to carry around so much more music at a fraction of the weight! I can be more prepared musically than when I used vinyl.
What's the best gig you've ever played and why?
This is tough. I've played many great gigs so far, but a couple of stand out ones would be Digital in Brighton and Mynt in Belfast. Both have a great crowd and sound systems.
Who's your all time favourite DJ?
Erick Morillo is always a DJ I have followed since my younger days. I love the way he can work a crowd and his music always great!
Do you have any tattoos? If so, what are they?
Spooky! I actually went and booked some time today, then got home and received this interview! I will be having a star on my right hand. All will be revealed on the day!
What are you most looking forward to about The Wickerman Festival?
Well I have heard good things from friends who have played in past years. I am going to be staying all weekend, so it will be great to spend time seeing other DJs and bands perform. It looks a great line up!
What are your top three festival survival items?
Nurofen painkillers, warm clothes (just in case!) and a warm sleeping bag.
What makes a great DJ?
The ability to play the right tunes at the right time and read the crowd!
Catch Ant on Saturday 24th July at The Wickerman Festival in the skiddle.com arena, part of the bass camp dance village.
