New Year is depressing enough anyway without every magazine, radio show and TV channel shoving down your throat who they think are going to be the biggest act of the year... yawn.

Unlike the others, MTV proudly gives the power to the people as our experts hand pick the ten most-likely-to’s, then let YOU decide who will be 2010's brightest new star!

Last year you guys voted in droves with your hearts and fingers, and crowned Little Boots your top-tip for 2009 with a whopping 40% of the vote!

Now, as one decade closes and another opens, MTV proudly presents the class of 2010.
Take a look at this year's contenders, and on January 10th, voting beings as we ask you to pick your favourite new act of 2010:

Delphic
Storming UK dance rock band from Manchester – channelling the spirit of New Order in a big way, MTV have been supporting them in 2009 with a couple of early video exclusives. They’ve established a strong fanbase over the past six months and developed an awesome live set.

Their debut album 'Acolyte' will be released through Polydor Records on 11th January 2010.

Ke$ha
Ke$ha (always with the $!) is a dirrrty new female star from the US who is currently all over US and European radio with her debut single Tik Tok.  We’ve loved her since we first set eyes and ears on her (in the massive Flo Rida single Right Round), we have a 5 track session already in the can, and she performed at our VIVA launch!  We expect her to blow up globally in a big way in 2010.

Ke$ha’s debut album ‘Animal’ is released on 11th January through Columbia Records.

Justin Bieber
Justin is a handsome young chap (only 15 years old!) from Canada, who was discovered on YouTube and introduced to the one and only Usher.  The resulting tracks are a unique mix of classic teen-pop and radio-friendly R&B that is putting Justin on the walls of teenage girls everywhere.  Currently on tour supporting Taylor Swift, he has a huge online following already – for example he recently increased MTV UK’s Twitter following by 10% with just one tweet! He also recently recorded a session track for us and is a right little pop star.

His first single 'One Time' is released on 4th January, and the album ‘My World’ follows on 18th January through Mercury Records.

Ellie Goulding
Ellie Goulding follows closely in the footsteps of 2009 successes Little Boots and Florence and the Machine, bringing her own unique slant to the solo-female-with-electronics genre.  Having built a strong underground following in the latter half or 2009 through releases on uber-cool indie Neon Gold and support from Huw Stephens, Rob Da Bank and Annie Mac. Having stepped up to the big time with a Little Boots support slot and Jools Holland performance in late 2009, she’s now signed to Polydor and ready to take 2010 by storm.

Ellie Goulding is currently recording her debut album with Mark Ronson super producers Starsmith, it’ll be available in Spring 2010.

Marina And The Diamonds
An utterly unique chanteuse, Marina Diamandis hails from Abergavenny, Wales, and is blessed with the sort of voice you’d expect from that part of the world.  Having also built her reputation through the super-hip Neon Gold records and appearances at festivals including a storming performance at Glastonbury, she’s now readying the release of her debut album.  We love her Kate Bush style warbling and the out there videos – check the madness of Mowgli’s Road below.

Marina and the Diamonds debut album 'Family Jewels' is released through 679/Atlantic Records on 15th February 2010, preceded by single ‘Hollywood’ on 1st February.

Tinie Tempah
2009 has been a MASSIVE year for the UK urban scene, with breakout hits from the likes of Tinchy Stryder, Taio Cruz and N-Dubz (all documented with unique live sessions on MTV.co.uk, of course).  2010 could well be Tinie Tempah’s year.  Coming from the same underground grime upbringing as the aforementioned chart-toppers, and with major support from 1Xtra, MTV Base and Channel U, and with over 3 Million Myspace plays under this belt, he’s ready to break into the mainstream.

Tinie Tempah’s debut album will be released in July through Parlophone Records.

Rox
Rox is a class act – a classic singer-songwriter who conjures up memories of so many greats, from Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill to Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell and Eva Cassidy.  Hailing from Norbury, South London, she was raised steeped in musical tradition and surrounded by singing and harmony.  Now signed to evergreen indie label Rough Trade and working with the team behind Duffy’s meteoric success, she brings something really special to our 10 for 10 list.  She came into our studios recently to perform a live session including a gorgeous cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’!

Rox’s debut album ‘Memoirs’ will be released in Spring 2010 through Rough Trade Records. The first single taken from 'Memoirs' will be 'My Baby Left Me' which will be released in March 2010.

Drake
Drake – real name Aubrey Drake Graham – is a seriously talented Canadian rapper with all the right names backing him.  Having come up under the tutelage of Lil Wayne and the Cash Money crew, he’s now trading verses with superstars including Jay-Z, Kanye and Mary J. Blige.  With a major label deal and a classic debut album under his belt, he should really break through in 2010.

Drake’s debut studio album ‘Thank Me Later’ will be released in the UK in early 2010 through Island Records.

The Drums
The Drums are the stuff of indie dreams come true; a gang of handsome, skinny young men who make music so cool it makes you want to just, y’know, hang out and do, like, stuff?  Spearheading a curious but undeniable surf-music craze that’s currently enveloping the US indie scene, they are performing on next year’s NME Tour and releasing their debut through Moshi Moshi records, home to Florence and the Machine amongst others.

The Drums new single 'I Feel Stupid' is released on 7th December, and their debut EP “Summertime” is available now, both through Moshi Moshi Records.

Owl City
Owl City is really the mind of Adam Young, a by-all-accounts shy young talent from Minnesota, USA.  Heavily influenced by US indie bands The Postal Service and Bright Eyes as well as European dance music, he has fashioned something all of his own and found gigantic success as a result.  His single “Fireflies” reached number one on the US Billboard Chart and sold over 200,000 copies in one week alone.  He’s had an insane 69.5 million plays on Myspace and he hasn't even started yet.

Owl City’s album 'Ocean Eyes' is released on 22nd February through Island Records.
