Jay-Z set to UK gigs

18th Apr 2008

Rapper Jay-Z has confirmed a tour of the UK this summer.

Already lined up to play the Glastonbury and Wireless festivals, the jiggaman has also confirmed a five-date arena tour of the UK in July.

Kicking off on July 15th, the hip-hop star will perform in Bournemouth, Cardiff (July 16th), Manchester (July 19th) and Glasgow (July 20th).

The mini tour is set to conclude at Aberdeen Exhibition Centre on July 21st.

Glastonbury's decision to book Jay-Z as one of this year's headline acts has drawn criticism from some music fans.

However, organisers have repeatedly defended the move. Writing in the Independent, Emily Eavis said the event was "honoured" to have the star performing.

"There is no reason why we should not have the greatest living hip-hop artist on at Glastonbury," she explained.

"Glastonbury has always managed to attract a diversity of acts, which is, I hope, part of its unique appeal."ADNFCR-1603-ID-18557628-ADNFCR
