AFRIKA! AFRIKA!, the hit show that has
taken London and Europe by storm, opens at Manchester’s Trafford Centre on July
23rd.
It is a show like no other. AFRIKA! AFRIKA! is truly sensational,
it assaults the senses and uplifts the soul. It is a totally exhilerating
experience.
It engages you from the moment you
step across the threshold of its wonderful tented palaces - it offers the very
best of theatre, circus and art all rolled into one glorious package.
AFRIKA! AFRIKA!
had rave reviews when it opened in London and, by the time it closes there at
the end of May, over 350,000 people are expected to have seen it.
The show has
enjoyed massive critical success since it first opened in Frankfurt in 2005
with audiences across Europe now reaching over 2 million. Solo artists and
dance numbers skillfully intertwine, daring acrobatics and stunning unicycle
numbers alternate with hushed, poetic performances – all accompanied by a rousing
live African musical score performed by musicians from Gambia, South Africa and
other nations.
Much more than
just a show, however, Andre Heller’s AFRIKA! AFRIKA! is very much an experience. From the
beautiful Moorish tents with Moroccan style cafes to the authentic African arts
and crafts and the African food, the audience is given a glimpse of the heart
of Africa from the moment they step through the door.
Since AFRIKA!
AFRIKA! opened in London, it has attracted a whole host of celebrities
including Kate Middleton, Sir Bob Geldof, Sir Mick Jagger , Uma Thurman, Queen
Latifah and Anastasia while, not content with just watching the show, Kelly
Rowland even got up on stage to join in the finale.
