The Rev lines up short-notice London gig

24th Jun 2008

Reverend and the Makers front man Jon McClure is to play an acoustic gig in north London tonight (June 24th).

Arranged a short notice, McClure - also known as The Reverend - will play a solo set of his bands songs at the Prince of Wales pub in Kentish Town.

The gig will be followed by a host of DJ sets from former Arctic Monkey Andy Nicholson and Oasis' tour DJ Phil Smith.

Primal Scream's tour DJ is also expected to perform at the free London gig tonight.

Currently on the festival circuit, Sheffield-based McClure has been influential on the Yorkshire city's recent music scene. After sharing a flat with Alex Turner, he helped Arctic Monkeys get noticed by record labels.

He also formed a group called Mongrel earlier this year, alongside Nicholson, Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell and Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders.
