Lakeman announces free London gig

23rd Jun 2008

Mercury Music Prize nominee Seth Lakeman is to play a free show and London's flagship HMV store next week to celebrate the release of his new album.

The singer-songwriter releases Poor Man's Heaven on June 30th with the free gig in the London shopping district of Oxford Street taking place the following day (Tuesday July 1st).

Lakeman's new album is his fourth as a solo artist - and his twelfth in all, taking into account his recording partnerships with Cara Dillon and Steve Knightley.

It is produced in part by his brother and fellow band member Sean Lakeman and has a rockier element compared to his earlier folk-influenced sound.

Meanwhile, Australian dance star Sam Sparro has also announced two gigs in London, starting with a date at the Bloomsbury Ballroom this Wednesday (June 25th).

The Los Angeles-based singer - who hit big with Black And Gold earlier this year - will also play the London O2 Wireless festival on July 5th.
