Paul Weller plans spectacular Liverpool gig
28th Apr 2008
Rock legend Paul Weller will play a gig in Liverpool's Echo Arena this autumn. The 'Modfather' has revealed he will play the 10,600-seater venue on November 17th to promote his new album, 22 Dreams.
It will be the first Liverpool performance by the former Jam frontman since he appeared at the Summer Pops event five years ago.
Ian Congdon, the arena sales manager for the venue, told the Liverpool Echo that the gig promised to be something special.
"We are delighted the living legend Paul Weller is coming to the Echo Arena. This shows our continued commitment to bringing in top names for the people of Liverpool to enjoy on their doorstep," he added.
Other major acts set to play the Echo in the coming months include Girls Aloud, Duran Duran, Counting Crows, Bryan Adams and The Wombats.
When the Wombats confirmed they were set to improve the quality of what's on in Liverpool in November, they said: "The show will be the last UK performance for The Wombats in 2008 and, in keeping with true Wombats style, it is set to be a mammoth homecoming party to thank all the fans for what has been a truly amazing year."
