Manchester bars named some of the best in the world

Two bars in Manchester have made the top twenty of a list of the world's best drinking venues.

People voted on the worldsbestbars.com website to compile a definitive list of the Top 100 Bars in the whole world.

While Barasti in Dubai topped the list, two of the best bars in Manchester were also included in the prestigious top twenty.

At number five was Velvet, one of the original instigators of the "Canal Street cafe society".

Then at number 13 was Socio Rehab. Located on the High Street in Manchester's Northern Quarter, the owners believe they offer some of the best cocktails in the city.

The Manchester bar's drinks list was devised by Beau Myers and Ian Morgan and the establishment even offers an exclusive Cocktail Club for people who have manged to sample most of the venue's most famous beverages.

Membership of the Cocktail Club means that people can access the Socio Liquor Cabinet, full of "prestige select spirits: some rare, some special, some bloody expensive".
