MTV's Liverpool gig 'to be best ever'

The boss of MTV Europe has claimed this year's music awards - to be held in Liverpool - will be the "best" gig in the country this year.

Richard Godfrey said that the November 6th event - which will be held at the Liverpool Echo Arena - will be one of the major highlights of the city's European Capital of Culture reign.

Eight major international artists are being lined up go the awards, which are being held in the UK for only the third time in their 15 year history.

Mr Godfrey said: "It's going to be more than just one big night, it's all about the build-up. We want as many people as possible from the area to be part of the audience.

"We are looking at eight performers, a host of international repute and lots of presenters."

Last year, the MTV Europe Music Awards were hosted by Snoop Dogg in Munich.
