16th Jun 2008
A Liverpool festival which was cancelled at the last minute in 2007 will go ahead this August after health and safety experts gave it the all clear. The Mathew Street Festival will take place on six stages along the iconic road - home to the Cavern Club - over August bank holiday weekend after logistical operations were cleared.
Hotels in Liverpool will probably be fully booked for the two-day event, which will also use 25 indoor venues for gigs in Liverpool, with a mixture of local and international talent lined up to play.
Liverpool City Council leader Warren Bradley said: "We looked at the issues from last year and how to resolve them.
"The council and all its partners have worked hard to ensure we deliver a first class, superb festival in Liverpool over the bank holiday weekend."
