Free ticket giveaway for Liverpool summer events

17th Jun 2008

Bosses at a major water company are to give away free tickets to a Liverpool festival this week to apologise for roadwork disruption.

A £35 million scheme throughout the city saw United Utilities dig up large parts of Liverpool city centre to replace old water mains.

Tomorrow (June 18th), officials will be at the city's Echo arena to give away free tickets to the Summer Pops events to be held at the venue throughout July.

Passers-by will have the chance to scoop one of 25 pairs of tickets to the performances.

Project engineer John Maher said: "We wanted to thank the people of the city for their understanding while these essential improvements have been undertaken."

Lined up to play the Pops gigs - between June 28th and July 31st - are The Farm, Crowded House, Sugababes and Diana Ross.
