WotGodForGot Promotions are music promoters based in Manchester very much into live music of the alternative kind. We like to put on touring bands with two or three local bands and hope to create an interesting mix that makes for a memorable night. WGF put on their first live music night in August 2007 at the Star & Garter in Manchester and we were extremely surprised by how many people turned up. Maybe it was the promise of a chocolate chip cookie that was handed out to everyone who attended or just the brilliance of the bands who played? The music focus is definitely on the alternative, leftfield, unusual, creative and interesting side. Some of the best UK up and coming post-rock bands have played WotGodForGot nights and this now seems to be where the main attraction is. Over the remainder of 2007 WGF found that their reputation for putting on excellent live alternative music had spread beyond the boundaries of City Centre Manchester and enquiries started to arrive from bands from Germany, Holland, Iceland, Japan, New Zealand and USA many of whom now make WGF their first contact when arranging UK tours. At the beginning of 2008 a decision was made to book a regular monthly night at The Retro Bar, Sackville Street which is close to UMIST and withing easy reach of Piccadilly Rail and Oxford Road Stations. This decision was made on the basis that a regular night is easier to promote and establish than a night that is constantly 'on the move'. However WGF still hold special nights at larger venues to suit bands with a bigger following. WGF are also involved with booking gigs for a local band and have also been approached by a couple of European bands to help out with UK tours but at the moment they have no real plans to expand into this area of promotion but perhaps it's something for the future. At the core of WotGodForGot Promotions is the desire to bring really good bands to Manchester on a non profit making basis although they try and cover overheads such as venue hire, professional sound engineers, advertising and wherever possible a payment to support bands which is why there is a small door tax. Fees are negotiable for headline bands.
