Ideally, Rich, you could direct your efforts into improving the lineup instead, as I do not think I am alone on criticising this. And by every social network going, do you mean here and Facebook? Hardly a dossier of activity, is it? Finally, if you intend to react to all criticism in this manner, then may I suggest not linking the festival to such portals that encourage user commentary? |

I think the "noise issues" were effectively sorted last year. If I sound a bit wooly jumper and ale it's 'cos I might be. The bar (nothing to do with Skiddle) was pish and expensive. As a family festival that sells its music choice as Eclectic (far eastern electricity as far as I can make out) the festival has to a certain extent painted itself into a corner with the result that it is trying to please too many people. The line up really is weak. I get feeder and wheezer mixed up. No metal (again) no prog rockers, no folk rock, no behemoths no the orb ,no orbital. |

As much as I am dissappointed in the lineup (so far in comparison to last year) I still have no issue with parting with £100 for a whole weekend of entertainment. However I think the Friday night headliner will need to be a cut above Feeder (who I dont mind) to stop people like me thinking twice about getting a ticket early next year. In fact there may be more people trying to get into the Scooter tent than watch the main stage on Saturday. Ive just paid a similar amount for NorthernLights festival in Aberdeen and the lineup is like night and day to Wickermans so far (they too have to announce the first nights headliner but have Madness to close). |

RichSkiddle Offline Points:12565 Posts: 11200 | Re: Wickerman festival discussion forum stricken by distinct lack of chat... Brian as mentioned I do what I can for the Skiddle tent with the budget we have. I talk to the organisers and make suggestions for acts for the other stages. It's not as easy as picking an act and paying for them, each festival works in its own way and perhaps books one larger headliner but less in between, has a lot of sponsorship or simply has different connections and perhaps works with other festivals to create group bookings and thus more buying power. Sadly more people than ever steal music these days and artists and agents are looking at ways of recouping this lost revenue - increasing fees at live events are definately an easy route. I have no doubt The Wickerman could put the ticket price up by £10 or perhaps reduce some of the facilities or entertainment on offer and then have a bigger budget to spend on headliners but I also have no doubt in how this would be greeted by Wickerman goers, and it's a route the festival would like to avoid taking. |

If you want big headliners - got to T in the Park - of course you then have to put up with all the neds that also go there. If you want a good atmosphere, clean campsite and for the most part ned free zone then Wickerman delivers. When you can pay up to £60 for one concert these days I think £90 price tag is pretty good value for money. Saw Feeder at Belladrum last year and while not top of my list either I was pleasantly surprised. Whatever the line up I'm really looking forward to another great weekend - it's the people that make The Wickerman! |

I've been waiting for a few more acts to be announced before purchasing my ticket for this year. I'm quite ambivilent about the prospect of Feeder headlining on the Saturday night and, as it stands, there are not many others that would entice me to part with my cash. The line up last year was infinately better than this tears offerings, yet I do think that the organisers may well pull a rabbit out of the hat. There may well be mitigating circumstances for the late announcement but considering there are only 8 weeks left until the gates open I feel that they are leaving it a bit late. The slightly concerning thing for me is that the late announcement means that folk may well have committed elsewhere rather than the Wickerman, Solfest being one. Putting all that to one side, one of the best things about the Wickerman is the mix of music on offer. Over the past couple of years I have stumbled across some hidden gems in the Solus Tent and the Scooter tent and, in my view, some times that makes it all worth while. Not everybody wants to hang around the main stage all weekend, although over the last few years or so the headliners have been pretty good, although they will go some way to beat the FLC and OCS. |

Echo and the Bunnymen, The Damned and the Craig Charles Funk Show I canne wait!!!!!! Best line up they've had in years. In fact good enough to entice me back as I haven't gone for the last couple of years as I was dissillusioned with the big named (lame) crowd pleaser headliners (The Proclaimes, KT Turnstile, OCS and the likes). As long as it disnae rain cos the Eden Fest was a washout. |

This is my 9th year Connect finito after just 2yrs...why?... overspend on big names. Skye Music festival...the same after 3yrs...due to big names. Aberdeen...never even got off the ground...and they will have made a loss. 10TH YEAR...Despite the current ongoing financial crisis. I'm happy with the line up...but even happier to be back in that amazing place...with amazing people. With a common aim...to have FUN |

. Big names do not a festival make it's what you make of it. Wickerman organisers must be doing something right.
.

P.s I like the Noisettes too
