Comments about food.

Don't you people explore the festival?! I've been astounded by some of the comments about paying what you pay for burgers and chips.

Besides not purchasing from 'fairgorund esq' stalls in the first place, there were lots of brilliant and yummy well priced food around the site. Foods from Argyll sold me the BEST burger i have ever eaten in my life, complete with blue cheese sauce. Given it was £5 but it came with side salad and was much better quality than my local pub. The lovely emma bought me macaroni cheese and sticky ginger pudding for another meal, plus falafel and crepes from another stall.

I dont think anyone can control the price of chips, its the same everywhere you go, but there is SO much choice at The Wickerman for so little money x

Re: Comments about food.

Thats where we ate all weekend (well when the food finished that we brought)

Always use the Argyle Food Hall stalls, they do Belladrum, Connect, TITP and Rockness too

Great food.. same price as the burger van shite but much better quality... also Katies Thai Kitchen (usually use her at Glasto too)

Re: Comments about food.

The first day is always a bit hit and miss when you're not sure which stalls are good and which aren't, but by Friday we were finding some great stalls with awesome food!

And there was the Stovies ! We had plates so big late on Saturday night I ended up trying to give half of it away. Great stuff it was as well.

That blue cheese burger was great as well.

Re: Comments about food.

I bought a roll from the hog roast.

It was £4 of pure balls.

I did how ever enjoy a well priced, £2.50 cheese burger from the van next to it! I think they were actually from the same company?

Re: Comments about food.

The veggie/vegan stall is our all time fave and we love the burger with extra hummous!!! We enjoyed the Stovies and neeps stall and we got fillings piled high for £4.50! Also, one stall I got chips covered with Macaroni cheese for cheap! I tried Katies Thai Kitchen too...but if anyone was around to see my dim wit teenage son knock the whole curry out my hands and all down my new wickerman hoodie...they would know I only got a few very nice mouthfulls...

Jesss... mabe a fair few years ago but at 41 with 2 growing teenagers in tow... food was a huge requirement... thank the lord for the village shop cos my son was always nipping off for crisps and mars bars... I spent a fortune on soft drinks... cant wait for them to like alcohol at least I feel they would be getting value/pleasure for money, lol!

Re: Comments about food.

The Gluten free stall had fantastic soup and curry, kept us going both nights ( My Pal gets fed up of having to survive on chips and baked tatties at festivals so they were a God send) Must mention their sticky toffee pud, oh and their marshmallow/strawberry kebabs smothered in chocolate *sigh* think we'll just park our butts infront of them again next year lol!

Re: Comments about food.

My discovery was the sausage stall with the older couple in the evenings, they were huge things and only £3.50 and 1 was almost too much - the best hot dogs ever. Their coffee was also great, the little coffee place facing the Wickerman does the best coffee (but only from the guy) but they were closed so I went to the sausage guy. £2 for a huge cup, it was so nice I went back for another so he only charged me £1 for that one - superb!

Did anyone try the lamb from the Argyll guys? I tried them at another festival and it was some of the finest festival food I have ever tasted.

Re: Comments about food.

i had a big cup of spice butternut soup and it was amazing!! i think it was £2.50 but it was well woth it and gentle on my lil tumtum!

also had a roast pork roll and it was food of the gods!!!

had 1 burger but it wasnt that good and the chips that came with it were rancid! i did take them back and tell them they were no good, they said they'd sort it out but i didnt give them another chance to check!

we always take some food with us to festivals as we find £10 for 2 burgers/whatever and a drink a bit on the pricy side. i made an amazing pot of stovies at the tent and it cost pennies! a simple one-pot meal!!

look forward to see whats on offer next year!

Re: Comments about food.

luvved the cheese on toast in my van on sunday morning, was the best food of the weekend. close second was a tie between the japanese noodles and the castle douglas butchers steak pie. We mostly ate in the van, couple of bbq, cheese salad wraps etc...
