You could yes, entry to a festival is slightly different, most under 12 year olds are at a festival because there parents want to go. I wanted a train set at 12.

However the cost of down and dirty is based on the cost, and regardless of an adult or a child still uses the same amount of water. This isn't an essential facility, it is one that is offered as an add on to the festival - there are plenty of toilets and running water around the site for you to survive without the use of the D&D facilitys. This additional facility is a massive additional cost to the festival, and one that has NEVER paid for itself.

Lets look at the sums. Last year, D&D pass (showers and toilets) for adults and children, £5
This year, a toilet pass, for adults and children, £5

No increase in price whatsoever.

An individual shower price has been introduced. You may remember last year showers breaking down, being cold, mild long ques. People thinking they were getting poor value for money. This year, if the showers stop working then nobody will suffer - as nobody will have paid in advance for the facility and nobody feels they are getting poor value for money. Hot running water in a field doesnt come cheap, if you dont want to pay £5 then pay £1 for a lukewarm solar shower - or stick your head under a cold tap.

Yes there is an increase, for £5 last year I had a clean flushing loo and 1 shower over the weekend.

This year for the same, it is going to cost me £10.. learn to count eh.

Either way Rich , theres Mr Gilroy commenting that Ticket sales are down and its due to the economy and folks having less in their pockets and then the Annoncement that its gonna cost you £10 compared to £5 last year if you want to use the full facilities available at D&D, its understandable theres going to be comments about the price, especially if the same facilites have been available for less at other events. That is by anyone standards a bit of a hike in price. why not issue a pass for ONE shower the use of the loos over the weekend, I bet more folks take up the offer than paying a fiver for a shower alone...and the queues your gonna get at the sinks as people wash there instead of showering are gonna hold things up just as much as last year, with Much more waste of water i should imagine...anyways, as i say, it was obvious that there would be feedback on the price rise. and this is a forum about Wickerman so where else could paying customers have a say?

Edit to say: Queueing a long time for the loos was down to BAD organisation Ziggy, it shouldve been obvious that 2 queues shouldve been formed by whoever was in charge..so there really wasnt any excuse for folks waiting ages for a toilet apart from the folks in charge of D&D themselves and as for there not being enough Hot water why would the sale of passes continue when it wasnt assured that the facility could cope with the amount of people who payed? Was it a case of taking the money and hoping for the best that everything would be ok? and why advertise these facilities if there is a known risk of them breaking down? or running out of hot water?

I know theres always elements that go wrong at festivals it stands to reason but sometimes the answer "Sorry bout that, its a lesson learned, we will do better next time" comes after many thousands of pounds has already been payed out.

£5 for a comfartable crap seems like excellent value for me. Curry and lager back on the menu.

Hope they are better than the normal ones though......

Paul I realise that you are the oracle of the festival world, so you will realise that other festivals charge more to get in the first place.

Please do reel off a list of names of events I have never been to so I can compare shower costs, but there really is no point. Want to feel ripped off? Gatecrasher charged £15 PER DAY parking and sold day tickets on the basis the chemical brothers were still playing even though they had cancelled the night before.

Things vary in price, thats about the weight of it. The cost of D&D hasn't doubled, though it has increased. And considering it has never paid for itself in the first place, there's not a lot more to be said.

They are definately cleaner than the porta loos that goes without saying but as Rich Knows im fortunately in the position of having my own personal loo and hot shower at wickerman so im wondering if i should think of maybe opening up in competition with D&D, My water is heated with Gas Rich, much cheaper and cleaner than dirty old diesel...should i do it?
