Site Visit

RichSkiddle

I made my second visit in as many months to the site yesterday with Ben, its a bit of a long day doing the return journey from Manchester all at once, but believe me it's worth it.

Apart from the drive across Shap where we stopped for a cumberland sausage bap (which in itself was worth the drive) we were on site for around lunchtime. The weather was its usual mysterious self, Mr Gilroy had served up some fine dinner and Sid had managed to dress with panache. We had a drive out from the farm, to see the lambs enjoying their last couple of days of freedom in what will be the car park. The grass was just getting cut, and work had just begun on the Wickerman structure itself, a very eerie site just the frame! Caravans are getting painted and there was just a general fantastic awe about the place.

In 16 days time I move up to The Wickerman to make it my home for nearly 2 weeks, and I cant wait. To me there is something quite magical about the place, and I ask you all to join us again this year for something that really is quite special. I know over the years we havent pleased everybody, but each year we try and please someone else and I ask you to remember how simply magnificent this event is when you look at it in the grand scheme of things.

Think of the memories you have had, the stories you have told or maybe even heard about the weekend that happens just once a year in the most fantastic surroundings you could ever ask for.

I really do love the wickerman and everything that comes with it. 2008 I return with my fionce after being engaged for exactly a year, I return with my friends who have supported me from the start, and i return with friends that I have made through the festival. I hope to meet new faces, create new mayhem and simply look forward to the best weekend of the year. I hope that you can join us too.

Spent the first and last day of May there. Late april early may I took apart the flooring from the old main stage, Mid april I helped Sam and Co. take down the rest of it before going to Knockengorroch then stayed at WM site for two nights before heading back. left feeling sadness as there was no main stage left. But all good bigger and better things this year.

Rich I prob arrive on Sat 19th. But I get to stay for well over two weeks. cos I have to stay till all the messy poeple leave. see ya all there
