John Cooper Clarke!

It's been mentioned before, but John Cooper Clarke would be awesome to see in the Acoustic Village! Quite a few famous Manchester bands are playing the festival and as he's the "Bard of Salford" i think he should play/perform.

Anyone else agree?

I'm seeing him on friday :D

He'd make an awesome Prime Minister. Gordon Brown doesn't know whats going down on the streets like John does Haha. It'd be great if he played wickerman

Re: John Cooper Clarke!

Saw John earlier on tonight, absolutely amazing he was! did like an hour n a half set of stand-up/poetry. so good! I met him afterwards and hes really nice, he forced me to read him my poem about him i wrote before he came on for a laugh and he loved it.

I emailed him/his management the other day, he seems pretty much up for playing Wickerman. Anyone know if he could be put into the bill at this late date and who to contact about it?

cheers, Emma x

Re: John Cooper Clarke!

Is this a Wind-up ?

Can't see him listed anywhere, unless he's gonna nip on and do a couple of spots with the Fall ?

Hope so...

Undecided

Re: John Cooper Clarke!

No wind-up.

Go onto main wickerman page and click on wicker news(column on the left) it confirms John Cooper Clarke on main stage on sat. Also confirms Shaun Ryder as part of Hacienda Tour. Fancy dress, mohawk record attempt among other things happening.

Re: John Cooper Clarke!

Im gutted we missed him. I went to the information point and asked the incrediblly bored looking young girls lying on the grass inside it when he was playing. They said that a couple of people had also asked them but they had no real information, only that he was expected on the main stage between acts on the Saturday afternoon.

This is another reason why they should bring back the more detailed progamme. The laminates were utterly useless.
