I agree, the industry will not survive if people just nick music all the time, I allways buy all my tunes.

Iused to get them from free sites but after witnessing the volume of hard work and stress involved in the production, i decide to stop it and start buying them, donwloads are cheap enough now.

junodownload is the one for me.

You can buy WAV files for the same price you'd pay for an mp3 on Beatport.

That said, I'm more interested in Drum & Bass, Dubstep and interesting stuff of a leftfield nature on 7" at the minute, so it means I'm still a total vinyl junkie.

Yeah Juno is quality too.

Limewire gives your pc aids!!!

I agree that established artists need to earn a crust and you should always pay for your music when possible. The downloads i pay for i usually get from beatport and juno download, both highly recommended.

Blogs however have opened up a world of unofficial remixes, bootlegs, edits, mash-ups and stuff by unknown producers and hyped up stuff alike.. downloading free stuff off of these sites i don't have an issue with and generally think is a healthy thing to do.

Insomnia

It's the unknown Producers that don't make any cash though, so it isn't that healthy.

To be honest people have been nicking music for years now and it doesn't seem to have affected the industry much, in a negative way at least. It has brought about change, such as Radiohead offering their album fo free, and Prince come to think of it, but the idustry still seems to be booming. It has pushed the industry in a different direction and forced it to find new ways of making money, most notably epic live performances and stage shows. Bands, such as the Music and The Verve have recently reformed yet everyone already had their music. The most negative thing to happen is the death of Top of the Pops due top a lack of interest in the chart but some, me included would say that is no bad thing.

Filesharing is here to stay, luckily the industry has realised that and adapted. Seems the only thing left to change is a minority opinion.

The majority of new `electronic` music that is now available through download sites isn`t worth buying anyway.

If you find something good through a free site and want to keep it then search out or wait for a better quality legal copy and pay for it.

Most of the stuff on the legal download sites isn't even worth buying.

One thing the digital revolution has done is made it easier for people to release unimaginative, unmastered, shit tunes by the bucketload.
Internet downloads have given more of an opportunity for producers to get their stuff out there, but at least you knew with vinyl, somebody cared about the music enough to get it pressed in the first place.
Now it's just a case of making a shit tune and firing it across the internet.
I've begun noticing that the majority of house stuff I've been downloading has come from labels I knew and trusted when I'd buy vinyl, or at least something that is also available on 12".

It takes me about 2 hours to go through the `new tunes` email from Juno every week, it`s quite upsetting the amount of crap that you have to wade through to get one or two good tunes.

Well that's called crate digging.
