The barstaff were quick, efficient, polite - what more do you want ??? I have never had a bad night in Funkademia, and keep up the great work guys. Those who had a bad night, ask yourself - have you just been spoilt by the resident DJ's who play quality tracks week in week out here, and you dont like change ? |

Granted if you are some musical snob then Funkademia is definitely not the place for you to go! Its about having a good laugh to funky tunes you know and love, thats what its always been about and I'd imagine Mr Chairman Kat came with other ideas... You say you expected 'classic house, funk, soul and disco', well forgive my ears but thats certainly what I heard? Im not sure about his mixing and how long he held his headphones for as I wasnt paying that much attention to the finer details I was having a good time to the music! All in all I thought Norman J was decent and had high hopes for the night as the deejay on before him got our gang proper moving and set our night up right (from the hellish bar we'd been in beforehand!!!) so a big thumbs up! Im not sure which resident is which but the deejay on after Norman J played the sort of stuff you would expect to hear on a birthday surely? big tunes that have built the night over 13 years!!! Cheer up |

heres to another 13 ;-)

I can't have been the only person there who noticed a member of the bar staff nearest to the dancefloor being physically removed by management due to being drunk (or heavily intoxicated in some way)??!! The man was absolutely sozzled! That could have been funny had the next guy who served me not have been so wound up and stroppy. Professional is not the word I was thinking! NikMacDJ - Good luck 'just having a good time' with, 'let's be honest, a bunch of rude drunks.' I prefer to go to nights where good people enjoy good music and the party atmosphere filters down from there. I appreciate that this may be what Funkademia is trying to do, but what I witnessed on Saturday was more on par with a school disco. Superstition? Stealer's Wheel? Give it a rest, please!! Another snapshot of my evening: A nice guy in a Gil Scott Heron tshirt leaving the place looking mortified!!
