There is only one place to be this August Bank Holiday weekend, and that’s Creamfields festival 2009.

Last week Creamfields revealed their mammoth line up, and we’ve only just stopped excitedly hyperventilating for long enough to ask one of their headliners, Sander Van Doorn, some questions.

You absolutely smashed it at Creamfields last year for the 10th anniversary. Are you looking forward to coming back in 2009?
Definitely, doing the 10th anniversary was one of my highlights of 2008 so I’m aiming for at least a similar result this year.

You are going to be back in the Cream arena, what can fans expect from your set?
I’ve been really busy in the studio working on new tracks and remixes. Also I’m planning to be very productive in April, so fans can expect a lot of new stuff fresh from the studio.

There are a lot of talented DJs from the Netherlands. Do you think the country has an influence on your music?
Absolutely, The Netherlands have been a big learning ground for me by going to a lot of parties and listening to a lot of Dutch artists over the last 14 years. I think because of the huge amount of parties being thrown here for many years that a lot of people got into dance music themselves, me being one of those.

Would you recommend going there for a clubbing experience?
I would actually yeah, there are a few organisations like ID&T, UDC and Awakenings that throw stunning parties throughout the year and ID&T are actually organising two Sensations this year on the Friday and Saturday which I think is going to be amazing.

Identity is your radio show on DI.FM which has been going now for 3 years. Does it give you a platform to experiment with new sounds?

It does especially since we’re expanding it to a bi weekly show, with 1.5 hours per show instead of 1 hour. The show now gives me even more opportunity to showcase different sounds as well having a guestmix in the show once a month from fellow DJ’s.

2008 was a massive year for you. You launched your own TV channel Selfcast.com, where you stream your own sets. How did this come about?
We got asked by Selfcast to pilot a channel doing live broadcasts from different spots throughout the world. Unfortunately we couldn’t guarantee a flawless connection since in a lot of places the internet connection simply wasn’t fast enough so we decided to turn the livecast into a monthly videocast posted via my own website which we’re working on right now.

You also became an ambassador for Dance4life, which inspires people to fight against HIV & AIDS. Could you tell us a bit more about your involvement and what it means to you?
Before I got connected with Dance4life I supported the Aids fund already for about 12  years. Becoming involved with D4L felt natural to me and started by me doing the remix on Tiesto’s Dance4Life track a few years ago. With being ambassador at this stage I will get even more involved doing parties and so on.

Back to Creamfields, what advice do you have for the clubbers to keep their energy going for the full weekend?

Partying in the night, sun tanning during the day!

What is the best thing about playing a festival for you?
I personally really enjoy testing out new production and getting a kick if the crowd goes crazy.

What are your festival essentials?

Definitely new DJ weapons fresh from the studio, sunglasses and wellies if the festival is in the UK.
