Those looking to explore a hedonistic mix of on-stage entertainment whilst the kids are entertained by story telling, circus tricks and cinema have found their destination for Summer 2013. Wickerman is a friendly, and genuinely well natured event, with everyone being actively made to feel welcome. Wickerman really is a pleasure to experience.
But what about the music?
Wickerman has made a habit of booking particularly strong lineups, traditionally involving some of the biggest bands from the 80’s and 90’s, as well as new bands catching everyone’s attention. This year’s headliners are the massively influential, legendary, and timeless Primal Scream. Since their formation in 1982, the band have gone from strength to strength, with this year heralding the release of their 10th studio album. Known for their infamous live performances, expect to witness something really quite special from them at Wickerman this year. Alongside them will be fellow Scot KT Tunstall, the always intriguing Public Service Broadcasting, Amy Macdonald, and Dexy’s Midnight Runners current manifestation, Dexy’s.
This year’s Wickerman has all the ingredients of providing another fantastic weekend in the bucolic surroundings of Kirkcudbrightshire, one that all the family can be a part of, making it one of Scotland’s standout festivals.

History of The Wickerman Festival
It all began way back in 2001, when Sid Ambrose, currently the festivals director, had the idea to make a festival just that bit different, by basing it on the classic British Horror film ?The Wicker Man?. He then teamed up with local Farmer Jamie Gilroy to decide on where such an event could be held. It was decided to hold it in East Kirkcarswell Farm, Dundrennan, where it remains until this day. The festival has always been firmly aimed at the family, providing an eclectic mixture of events and activities for all ages. Traditionally the Festival culminates in the burning of a 35 foot Wickerman, made by local craftsmen, and provides the highlight to an incredible and unique festival experience.
