History of Run to the Sun

The event is organised by Cranstar Event Management and its official home is at Trevelgue Holiday Park, Newquay, Cornwall.

Run to the Sun was created from a natural affinity between the car and beach culture, the surfer\'s love of the VW Beetle and the upsurge in popularity of the customised VW as a trend setting mode of transport. When the festival was launched way back in 1987, seventy cars turned up but it has continued to grow each year. Now thousands of car enthusiasts from across the UK and beyond travel to Newquay to indulge in this annual festival which attracts somewhere in the region of 80-100 000 visitors each year.
Run to the Sun has evolved over the years, and it would be true to say that it is not solely a Custom Car and VW festival. There are many different elements, which contribute to its unique image, not least of all its location in the Surf capital of
the UK.
