DJ Suv

As a crucial member of the respected Full Cycle and Reprazent stables, Suv has undoubtedly contributed his fair share to the development of Drum n Bass and definitely to the sound of Bristol. A member of the seminal 1989 group Fresh Four who burst onto the scene with 'Wishing On A Star', Suv has continued to carve a musical journey both as a solo producer and part of larger conglomerates with Roni Size, Krust and Die always with the intent to break new ground.  Never afraid to look into the past and routes seldom explored, Suv's Desert Rose EP kicked up a storm with its release. Borrowing influences from Latin, Brazilian, Hindu and Moroccan grooves, the EP was warmlr received by everyone from the likes of Grooverider and Fabio to eclectic leftfield DJs like Gilles Peterson and John Peel. He soon added more to his discography with another sun n bass style ep: Follow The Sun. Like its precursor, the EP delves into uncharted territory in terms of fresh rhythms. On a more dancefloor-orientated front, Suv has been responsible for a number of tracks that as always have made people sit up and pay attention. His single, Do You Remember Me, a release employing the vocal talents of New Zealand's MC Tali caused serious damage on dance floors worldwide for some time and is still a classic in its own right.  As a DJ Suv plays a style like no other, his open mindedness and willingness to open peoples minds and play a wider range of music has made him the DJ producer he is today. He is currently working on an album project with vocalist Don-E called Rhythm n Bass to show the world once again that Drum n Bass can be musical yet still hard, once more finding that equilibrium between hard dance floor beats and music for the soul. Flying in especially from his new home of Seville in Spain for this evening, expect some of the sunniest Drum n Bass this side of Brazil.

Doc Scott
The original "King of the Rollers," Doc Scott is arguably one of the legends of the the drum and bass scene. From Reinforced to Metalheadz to his own label, 31 Records, he has pioneered the sounds we know as drum and bass today and continues to lead the way forward. As an artist, he has been responsible for some of the scene's defining moments including hardcore classics 'NHS' and 'Here Come the Drumz', 'Shadowboxing' and, in his Nasty Habits guise, 'Liquid Fingers'. As a label owner, he has strived to release music that pushes boundaries with releases such as Marcus Intalex's ' How You Make Me Feel' and the smasher 'Vault' by Pendulum. First and foremost, however, Doc Scott remains dj who sets are second-to-none, effortlessly crossing the full spectrum of drum and bass and igniting dancefloors with fresh and inspirational sounds. For 2007, Doc Scott looks forward once more like no other. Reinterpreting the past and bringing two stone-cold classics bang up to date, he has a new version of 'Drumz, entitled '9507', and 'Tokyo Dusk' (a reworking of 'Tokyo Dawn') set for release later in the year. In addition, there's brand new Nasty Habits material to look forward to on 31 Records along with releases from Lynx, DJ Vapour and Mixmaster Doc. Expect to hear these first, alongside other future classics, at dj dates featuring Doc Scott across the UK, Europe and beyond.

Baron

After literally exploding onto the scene in 2003 with his almighty Nosher Remix, Baron has continued to go from strength to strength with a whole host of hit records, shrugging off the once desired title of breakthrough producer to become a truly respected production phenomenon worldwide. Making his way into the scene through the use of his talent as a DJ he was noticed by the respected promoters of Source in Oxford. Whilst DJ-ing Baron constantly found himself amidst the most upfront drum and bass music on offer, which in turn gave him the desire to create some music of his own. Some of the music that was being created at the time literally left him spell bound, none more so than the music the award winning collective Total Science were making, who just so happened to be good friends of his. There was no limit to the encouragement the collective gave Baron, and as a result were a massive influence. Since his initial releases on Total Science's CIA label Baron has been DJ-ing extensively around the globe playing the music he loves. This has included touring UK, Europe, USA and Asia. He has featured on a number of tours, including the likes of CIA, Advanced, Renegade Hardware and Trouble on Vinyl. It wasnt long before Baron was presented with an offer he didnt want to refuse with Adam F and DJ Fresh's Breakbeat Kaos label, also the starting point for current mainstream darlings Pendulum. Numerous anthems have since been released on the label and his sound continues to develop and produce brand new angles on the ever popular surging Drum n Bass sound. He also continues to run his own imprint - Baron Incorporated which has been going from strength to strength of late with 10 releases so far on the label, the next release being the remix of the Stanton Warriors' "still here" tune.  All that remains to be said is if you havent seen Baron perform, you need to, its a spectacle, its a double drop extravaganza, hes something different and thats what being Baron is all about. His futures bright so watch this space.

Danny Byrd

Hailing from Bath, Danny Byrd has been involved in the Drum & Bass music scene since the late 90's. Seen as a pioneer of soulful and vocal liquid funk, Danny had his first release on DJ Ron's Piccasso imprint back in 1998 with "Manhattan", and joined the Hospital Records camp in the year 2000. It was with Hospital that he really made his mark with the singles "Do it Again" and "Changes", this was the start of a fresh new sound mixing D&B with soulful house, garage and R&B influences. Later in the year he also skillfully remixed London Elektricty's "Wishing Well" for the Plastic Surgery 2 compilation. The remix again took d&b to new heights with Todd Edwards style vocal chopping and was a firm favorite with liquid funk don Fabio. Other notable remixes were for High Contrast's "Music is Everything" also on Hospital and Tungsten and Morph's "Expand your Mind" on the Sound in motion label. Mr Byrd returned on Hospital in 2003 and 2004 on the Weapons of Mass Creation Compilations with "Planet Music" feat MC Foxy and "The Winchester Club". 2005 brought a album deal to the table from Hospital, and saw the release of "Soul Function" and "Doghill" as singles to great reviews and support from Annie Mac, Bailey, Bryan G, High Contrast, and many more. The new deal signed with Hospital allowed Danny to work with a select few top labels outside of Hospital, and in 2006 he worked with V Recordings on "French Quarter", Total Science's Advanced imprint for "Round & Round" and the Spearhead record label with "Rise Again. Last year saw the Byrd gain a reputation for a DJ to watch, playing places as far as Los Angeles, Paris, Munich, Vienna and closer to home at the Hospitality nights at Herbal & Heaven. Danny Byrd's debut LP is dropping this month and so we feel very priviliged to have him join us, his Shockout release earlier this year was snapped up by DJs worldwide with a completely fresh approach to the sampling and resampling culture on which Drum n Bass has been nurtured and the rest of the album looks set to be making just as many waves. Outside of producing and DJ'ing around the globe Danny runs Music Production Seminars and online tuition in the Bristol area helping budding music producers. With great soulful licks and always a nod to the dancefloor Break!!!'s a big fan of his work so we are are really excited to have him play at last.

Dazee

Coming to the scene in the days of free parties and warehouse raves, Dazee has been flying the flag of jungle music since it began.' Jungle', 'drum and bass', 'dnb', whatever you call it now ... she's still flying that flag! Dazee began her professional DJing career in 1992 and a year later founded the now legendary Ruffneck Ting alongside Markee (Kosheen) and Rachel and Colin (Knowledge magazine). When Ruffneck Ting started a record label in 1995, Dazee exercised her production skills both as a solo artist and with Markee, as Substance, releasing dance floor smashes such as 'Damn Right' and 'Prisoner'. Her exceptional ability took her to every party that mattered – Universe, Dreamscape, Helter Skelter and World Dance. Her reputation grew in Bristol with a weekly show alongside MC Jakes on Mike Wiley's Ragga FM, Bristol's number one pirate station. She went on to perform three times on Radio 1's 'One in the jungle' and played on various commercial radio stations worldwide. As well as radio she has had TV appearances on VH1, HTV's Sounds of the West and a half hour feature on ITV West about Eden, the all-female live drum and bass act she founded in 2001. Nowadays, between gigs here and abroad, Dazee plays regularly with Bristol's 'Dutty Girl' and is also one of the residents at Bristol's highly acclaimed dnb night 'Run'. Dazee also finds time to teach music technology and radio production at various youth projects and media centres across Bristol. Dazee's unique style, boundless energy and passion for her music rock the party every time. From her pioneering foundations to a blossoming future, her philosophy remains the same: "I just want to play the music I love and hope it helps people let their hair down and dance their socks off."

MC Skibadee

Skibadee has been performing at parties and raves all over the UK and US since 1994 and he has become one of the most notable solo performers on the Drum and Bass scene. His fame started off after feature on radio show on the London pirate radio station Kool FM. By early 1995 Skibadee was featured regularly at events such as Thunder & Joy, Spirit of the Jungle and his regular spot on City Sound Radio. It was not long after that Kool FM came his way and Skibadee began his fast rise to the top. By the end of 1995 Skibadee was resident for all Kool FM, Fever, T & J, Malachite, Electrybe, NJC, Designer label Ball and Innersense. Skibadee's time had come and he was more than just a household name. Along with his partner, MC Dett, Skibadee launched a new project called 2Xfreestyle in late 1997, which involved applying their Drum and Bass flow over the regular hip hop beat to get a double time effect. The single and subsequent video was a success and after being accepted on M.T.V. and The Box, it swiftly went to number 3 in the Beat Box chart for several weeks. In 1999 Skibadee began to notch up the first of 3 the Knowledge Awards for best Mc Also three Accelerated culture awards which equates to 6 years in the number 1 spot. This is set to be Skibadee's first time at Timbuk2.. given the energy that he generates when on the MIC its pretty certain this is going to be a hot and sweaty affair!

Joe Peng

Joe Peng started MCing in 1991, at Ecstatic in Bristol, a night influenced by Johnny Nation. The first DJ he was known to work with was Jumping Jack Frost, someone he now credits as his favourite DJ of all time. His success at that event soon led him to perform at many of the major events of that era...Perception, Fantazia, Dreamscape to name a few. Over the years he has had the pleasure of working with many of the trend setting DJs like Kenny Ken, Sy, Slipmatt,  Seduction, Easy Groove, Carl Cox and Sasha and has travelled the country and Europe doing things in his own special way. Having formed the band, Laidblak, with DJ Bunjy and recently signed to Tricky's Brownpunk label he still finds himself being drawn to the continued energy of the rave scene though he quotes his favourite raves of all time has to be Universe at Tribal Gathering and Fantazia at Donington Park, both nearly 15 years ago.
Joe's a regular at Break!!! events and never fails to bring positive vibes, in short this passage outlines the ethos of Bristols own Mr Peng, and it has been this way from the very start: "This goes out to the white, the black, the slim , the fat. Don't worry bout that. Just get up and make your body rock. Non stop. Why not? To you, to me, to god knows who, cause god loves me and god loves you. Peace."  Well said that man.

Jody Wisternoff

Jody's biog is deceptive, as he's achieved so much in a short space of time. Selling over 100,000 albums and delivering a Top 40 hit with his band Way Out West would be enough for most people. Yet along side their 3 Albums, countless remixes and production duties on everyone from the astonishingly cool (James Holden, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Orb, Roni Size) to the ridiculous (Natalie Imbruglia) Jody has managed to create music that not only elevates every dance floor but has also been used heavily in film and TV,(The OC, CSI, Grey's). 2004/2005 also saw a world tour on their own and sharing billing with Faithless and festival slots for Radio 1 at Glastonbury, Creamfields Prague, Creamfields UK and Argentina. Jody's sound has been his global meal ticket. But let's rewind a little to before all that happened, he'd already won the DMC Mixing championship regional heats at the criminally young age of 15, torn every rave apart in the early 90s as Sub Love with Full Cycle's DJ Die and dj'd at most clubs Worldwide worth djing at, then got the band together (Way Out West) by the time he was twenty and on single three tore up the airwaves and the TOTP studio, with partner Nick Warren on their big hit "The Gift". Right now, with a new Way Out West album slowly taking shape (the fourth) he has been producing solo works (first single "Cold Drink, Hot Girl" came out on Distinctive), followed by Nostalgia on Be Yourself, and has now picked up his djing habit again and is partying on a global scale! He joins us in the 'intimate' surroundings of Timbuk2 room 2 to spin some of the Old Skool hardcore with which he first made his name, an extra special treat for the Bristol heads.

Rob Smith

In the realm of sounds and blues, Rob Smith, founding member of Bristol beat makers Smith & Mighty, Blue & Red, and More Rockers reigns supreme. Born out of the rich musical firmament of the early 1980s Bristol U.K. scene, Rob Smith cultivated his now distinctive sound through endless experimentation with old reel-to-reel tape recorders and playing sounds through echo pedals. Playing rhythm guitar for early Bristol reggae band, Restriction he shared the stage in support of many a roots reggae stalwart. He did the Rasta Serenade along side Aswad, the Herbsman Hustle on the same bill as Sugar Minott and recorded for the mighty Mad Professor at Ariwa Studios. Around 1985 he met up with Ray Mighty and on discovering that they had similar interests Smith & Mighty was born. In late 1987, on their own Three Stripe Records label, Smith & Mighty produced and released their first record 'Anyone'. After their follow up underground hit 'Walk On By,' the pair took on a string of productions including Massive Attack's debut single 'Any Love', and top ten hit 'Wishing on a Star' for The Fresh Four whose members included the young DJ's Krust and Suv. Since those heady days Smith & Mighty have released three albums, the aforementioned "Bass is Maternal," "Big World, Small World," and "Life is..." as well as contributing to K!7 record's longstanding "DJ Kicks" series. More recently, Rob's passion for bass and dub treatments has been evident on his solo album projects 'Up On The Downs' and 'In One Way Or Another.'  2007 saw Rob unsurprisingly moving from strength to strength. He released two breakbeat dub twelve inch singles on the Functional label entitled 'Give Love' and 'Loveage" and also entered the dubstep realm via Bristol dubstep label Punch Drunk under the name RSD with the tunes 'Dub Corner' and 'Pretty Bright Light.' Never one to rest long, Rob is also releasing a new heavyweight dub track named 'Kingfisher' on Earwax along with 'Firewall' on the Dub Related imprint and busy making remixes for UK digital roots crew Zion Train, UB40, and Japanese outfits Antennasia and Rub-A-Dub Market. Currently deejaying all over the globe from London's 'Fabric' to Tokyo's 'Club Yellow' he will also be playing guitar with Bristol ten-piece band Dub From Atlantis at this year's Glastonbury Festival. The festival will also see him once again join with Ray Mighty as one-half of Smith & Mighty. Tonight he drops us a special set no doubt playing many of his reggae influenced dubplates from over the years, this is breakbeats original Soundsystem style!

DJ Mulder
Mulder released his first drum and bass record 'Don't Believe / Stick-up Kid' in 1997 with Urban Takeover. The tracks had sucess on the dancefloors and were played by DJ's such as Hype, Nicky Blackmarket and Darren Jay, along with Mickey Finn and Aphrodite of course. His style has always been on the more 'Jump-up' dancefloor side of dnb, but he's done some tracks that wouldn't really be classed as such. In 1998 he released a record on Bristol's 'Tribe' label called 'Gettin' Blunted', which ended up playing a small part in the film 'Human Traffic'. One of Mulder's favorite musical tasks is that of remixing tracks by other artists. He has had remixes for Fat Boy Slim and the Freestylers released, with a remix for the Prodigy getting a release on a compilation album for Mixmag. In 2002, he released his first Breaks track with Plastic Raygun records called 'Listen To The Basstone', which was followed by a remix for fellow Bristol producer October on a German label, Dangerous Drums. Mulder is currently working on a number of 'Hardcore Breaks' / 'Nu-Rave' tracks and has so far released within the genre on 2-Fresh Recordings and the prestigious Nu-Basement label. Tonight he is back to back with Bristol Old Skool hero DJ Ruttler to showcase a set that is always welcome on the Break!!! system.. Its time to mash down the place!!!
